Highlights
  • Trou aux Cerfs - Begin your 7-8 hours southwest scenic tour with a hotel pick-up anywhere in Mauritius. You will meet & be greeted by our certified guide and after boarding to your comfortable vehicle, then set off for your first stop.

You’ll be heading to Trou Aux Cerfs which is one of the famous natural tourist attractions in Mauritius. The dormant volcanic crater is around 605 meters above sea level, with a diameter of 350 meters & a depth of around 100 meters.

Unlike the typical volcanic features, Trou aux Cerfs’ crater is surrounded by a vast area of lush forest consisting of indigenous plant species and some giant green pine trees. It is believed that the Trou aux Cerfs erupted once and has remained dormant for the last 700 000 years; experts believe that there is a potential chance for it to become active again.

Definitely, one of the main highlights is the 360-degree view of the town, Curepipe & the majestic view of Rempart Mountain, Trois Mamelles, and the Port-Louis- Moka mountain range.

Additional Information

On this 8-hour private expedition across the South-Western landscape of Mauritius, you will start by visiting the inactive Trou Aux Cerfs volcano - a favourite among tourists - and Mare Aux Vacoas Reservoir where you will be greeted with an amazing view of the lake.

The journey continues to Grand Bassin where you can observe the crater lake and marvel at the massive statue of Lord Shiva. Hereafter, you’ll proceed to the impressive Alexandra falls that promises a unique encounter with nature, serene waterfalls and a profound valley. Next, make a stop at the Gorge Viewpoint to take in the breathtaking and distinct beauty of local flora & fauna.

Later in the day, you’ll be treated to a traditional Mauritius 3-course feast before delving into the Rum-making processes at Rhumerie de Chamarel. The journey goes on to the Seven Colored Earth, noteworthy for its sand with variations of hues.

You’ll then visit the striking Chamarel waterfall, touted as the tallest single-drop waterfall, followed by a trip to the Chamarel viewpoint. Your adventure concludes at the Maconde viewpoint where you’ll feel as if you’re in the heart of the ocean.

A must-do experience in Mauritius - We had a great day taking in the tour with our driver and guide, Mangesh. All tickets were paid for in advance and we were shown round some of the lovely sights in the south of the island - Alexandra Falls, the Bois Cheri Tea Factory and Grand Bassin were particular favourites! Would highly recommend

Well put together tour, amazing sights - A great day and really well put together tour. Manu was happy to answer all our questions and was super flexible, going out of his way to make our trip the best it could be. We went on a pretty rainy day, but actually it made several of the sights all the more impressive. Thanks Manu 🙂

Worthwhile - Nice tour, which was modified due to the Shive Festival (otherwise it would have consisted mainly of “Mauritius’ most beautiful traffic jams”). So the focus was on the east of the island, so I missed the volcano and the Shiva statue. But there was more time at various stops - I thought that was good. There was more time for the impressive waterfall and also enough space for the turtles at the colored earth - there was also a relaxed iced coffee there. There was also enough time in the (very beautiful but also touristy) rum distillery for a cocktail in the beautiful garden after the rum tasting (recommendation: Golden Mojito!). The last spot was really great again before we headed back to the hotel. The car was good (Duster), the driver was also great, even if he could have said a bit more about the individual points and the country and people. In addition, the tour was in English instead of German. All in all, a very good tour at a fair price.

Perfect start to the holiday - Excellent trip, where Agi provided lots of background information not only about the site’s visited but also life in Mauritius. He also demonstrated that he was a very driver given the tree clearing operations taking place following the recent stormy weather.

Natural Beauty of South West Mauritius - This was a day trip to give us an overview of the natural beauty of Mauritius. We visited many different sites on our whistle stop tour. The day had been planned well by our guide Mangesh. We were collected at the arranged time and the sights were well chosen. It was a very full but wonderful day with memorable experiences.
