A great experience - We had a very nice driver who was happy to answer all our questions and also took our interests into account. With him we were able to visit many spots that are usually part of long tours and we were able to decide on the spot how long we wanted to stay where. Super great

What a day! - OMG!!! What a great day! The weather was sunny and warm and our sweet Baboo (driver) was informative and warm, too. We booked this as a private tour from our ship a couple days before we arrived. Received an instant reply from Sam Tours and booking/payment was fast and easy. We started the day by driving south about an hour to start in the Black River Gorge. Baboo suggested this mainly because the ship’s bus tours would start closer to the port and we wanted to avoid the crowds. We worked our way through the sites always about a half hour before any busses. Brilliant! We stopped at the Hindu temple during preparations for one of the high holy days (Maha Shivratri). Being from an Hindu family, Baboo was able to explain the customs and background of the fete and how far pilgrims walk to attend the events. We stopped at a neighborhood (non-touristy) restaurant for lunch at the Ebony Table D’Hote for authentic local food served on a banana leaf. Outstanding! Our final stop was also outside the normal tourist area for ‘made in Mauritius’ handicrafts and souvenirs that were not sourced from China. We had the day we envisioned - local sites with commentary; local, authentic food; and, uncrowded places to explore a part of this wonderful island country. When we return to Mauritius (and we will!), we will contact this company again!

Thank you for our discovery of the island - We did all our excursions with SAM TOURS and we were very satisfied. We contacted them before our stay to establish a program and they responded very quickly. Thanks to SAM for his kindness, he is a very good guide, he showed us magical places and talked a lot about Hinduism. Thanks also to MIKE for his kindness, his advice, his anecdotes. Both are very punctual and have a very reassuring behavior. We will recommend this company.

Great experience - Babbu was our guide and he was an amazing one. Let us take our time at each of the stops or move as quickly as we desired. Warned us about the tourist traps and gave historical context. Loved the tour and the guide.

Great day out away from the beach - Great guide in Baboo. Excellent knowledge and enthusiasm for the island and all it has to offer. We are a family of four and the price quoted is for all four of us, not per person which most other firms seem to charge. Doesn’t include entrance fees / lunch but still excellent value for money for a full day trip around some of the southwest’s best sights.

Super efficient and punctual transfer - We used Sam's services well before our arrival there to carry out our various transfers to Mauritius. We have not been disappointed. The service was there, punctual and pleasant driver, comfortable, clean car. They are very responsive to exchanges via WhatsApp. This allowed us to modify our excursion transfers or even call on them for a transfer earlier than planned (4 a.m.!). They always knew how to be there and accommodating. We visited the south of the island with Sam who was an excellent guide. We wish them continued success and will not hesitate to come back to them or recommend them to our friends.

Great outing - We took the South exit with the driver Viki. We went to different places to visit where he always offered to take photos of us. The meal we ate at midday was just simply excellent (which you can see in the photos).

Book! - Easy to book. Quick communication. Personal touch- agreed to pick up and drop off times which suited us at hotel. Driver (Baboo) was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and couldn’t do enough for us- taking great photos, stopping off to pick local fruits, finding deer. A very relaxing and safe drive. You have to pay around £6 each (350) for entry into Chamarel waterfall/7 coloured earth (discounted through local operator) and pay for your meal at local restaurant (we paid 2500 rupees for 3 Including drinks) but still works out much cheaper than alternatives. Would highly recommend. Ask for Baboo for a great experience! Diolch Baboo (Welsh for thank you).

Bad Experience Not worth the Money - Do not take this tour! Driver arrived an hour earlier than time he originally confirmed; I paid double because i was only one person; Driver was not a professional guide - provided no useful info; I refused to accept early lunch ( I was not hungry) and was unaccepting of sketchy restaurant where he insisted i eat! I chose a nice alternative - panoramic restaurant in the park and driver lied to me and said i had to pay park fees to re-enter and go to restaurant- he was dead wrong- we drove past the restaurant and i was heartbroken to have missed a great dining experience ( even though yes I understood i would have to pay for it since I didn’t accept the included sketchy lunch location.) Glad it’s over!!!
