Best excursion for food - The food was fantastic. I can’t wait to try out the soup at home. And putting mango in the guacamole was mind blowing. We will definitely do more classes with Poula, she’s very knowledgeable and teaches about Mexican culture as well as cooking

The Joy of Cooking - Mazatlan style. - Paola treated us not only to an incredible cooking class but a history lesson on the cuisines of Mexico. She was delightful and we’d happily take another of her cooking classes or one of her food tours.

Culinary delight - Our instructor Paola was the most gracious, passionate, experienced, creative cooking we could have hoped. She integrated all her personal, cultural and gastronomic experience to make it an all encompassing evening of education and culinary delight. Her home is exquisitely decorated with items from her culture as well. Highly recommend ❣️🦋🌼

Can't Wait to Make These Dishes back home! - Cooking class is an experience not to be missed wherever you travel. Today we made Dorado al Pastor & Molotes with Poala using the freshest mahi, sweetest pineapple, and ripe plantains. Beautiful and tasty foods. Thank you, Poala, for sharing your home, stories, expertise, and passion with us.

An experience we will definitely do again. - We experienced tacos that we had never had before, we made tortillas, we prepared all the ingredients before we started cooking. It was a small group, just two couples. It felt like going to a friend's house for a dinner party. We loved it and will do another class next time we are in Mazatlan.

Wonderful Experience! - We took the Chiles cooking class, taught by Romina. She was charming and funny and so knowledgable about food traditions and flavors. We had a truly wonderful time making (and then eating!) Poblano Crema, Chile Rellenos, and Enchiladas. Whole-heartedly recommend taking a cooking class with Tomatl--there's no better way to get to know a culture than through its food! The recipes were delicious!

Tantalizing Experience - This class was an absolute delight from start to finish! Under the expert guidance of our instructor, Paola, we learned the art of making perfect tortillas and also mastered four taco recipes from different regions of Mexico. Who knew huitlacoche could be so delicious? The hands-on experience, coupled with the cultural insights shared throughout the class, made for an unforgettable time. I left feeling inspired and empowered to recreate these dishes in my own kitchen.

Worst Cooking Class I have EVER Taken!!! - I wish I could echo the many good reviews of this cooking school but I cannot. I have tried to communicate and work for a resolution with the owner, Paola Osuna, but this has been futile. She has responded once to my issues and then ignored the rest of my emails. First I will inform you about our experience. We were 6 people--all foodies. Another couple also attended that we did not know. So a total of 8 people@$85pp. I was the person that arranged this activity. It was supposed to be dinner and last into the evening. The class is advertised as being 3.5-4 hours long. It begins at 4:30pm. We were out on the sidewalk stunned at 6pm. I had to go back to our apt to review the class description because it just wasn't what I had thought. We(the students) did little cooking. We cut some veggies and I cooked some potatoes. We felt very rushed but I know they have a schedule. Our "meal" consisted of some ceviche (Paola and I dispute how long ceviche should "cook" in the juice. I felt it was raw), a soup with some tough meat and some store bought, dry, sweet tamales that were cut into quarters. That was it folks. Our beverage offering was a barley milk that was not something most of us enjoyed. We never received any recipes--either in person or via email but we were encouraged to "write a good review". Paola did not conduct the class. 2 other women did. We do not know what happened but this was not anything like the many cooking classes I have attended. This was not an $85 meal and to include store bought dessert is unconscionable. I would suggest that you keep looking for another cooking class in Mazatlan.
