Cooking Class in Mazatlán - My husband and I attended a cooking class presented by Paola. We shared the experience with 6 other Mazatlán visitors. We all had so much fun learning how to make 4 different kinds of tacos, including the tortillas and a super yummy fresh salad. The food was fantastic and it was really fun participating in preparing the ingredients and helping cook as well. An added bonus was the introduction to the class with information about the food and culture of Mexico that Paola provided. Paola is a very knowledgeable, professional, friendly, innovative and genuine. We will take one of her food tours or cooking classes next time we visit Mazatlán and recommend her to friends and family.

Cooking and culture and so much more! - We took Paola’s Taco Class and had a wonderful time. We started with learning a bit about Mexico, its diversity of people and geography, and then the many different kinds of corn, mole, and tacos found throughout the country. Great background for the actual cooking. We made four different tacos, as well as preparing our own tortillas. Two were vegetarian and Paola said she would adapt with advanced notice if there were vegetarians/vegans in the class. Food was excellent and Paola kept us learning throughout, not just about cooking techniques but also about the ingredients, the history and cultural significance of the cooking vessels, and any other questions the class had. Paola is very knowledgeable and her English is excellent making it easy to absorb all that she was telling us. There were 7 in the class the day we took it and the class is capped at 8. The small number allowed us to have some individual attention as well as space to prep our ingredients. The kitchen is small so more than 8 would be unworkable. Paola was very organized and she and her assistant kept the cooking area spotlessly clean. Added bonus - Paola provides restaurant recommendations and not only from her tours! Highly recommend.

Cooking class with TOMATL - We attended the cooking class and really enjoyed spending time with the owner Poala. She is extensively knowledgeable about food and culture of Mexico as well as regional specialties. She has a wonderful personality and made us feel so welcomed in her home as she taught how to make four different types of yummy tacos from scratch. We all got to participate in making the tacos. In addition to the class, Poala also has foodie tours and different cooking classes to offer. Check out her website for more options and local restaurant recommendations. We recommend this class and are looking forward to going again someday. Sincerely, Taco attics R & J

Definitely recommend Paolo’s cooking class - We went to Paola’s The Gems of Mexico cooking class yesterday and had a fantastic time - she started with a rich discussion on food and crops across the country which gave us a sense of how incredibly diverse this country is. With Paola’s guidance, everyone then got involved in food prep including making guacamole and having this as a snack break before continuing to make an incredible soup, tacos and flan for dessert. I am someone who likes to experience a country through its food! The soup was rich in flavours I hadn’t experienced before - with the unique flavours from the anchos chilies (full of flavour not heat). Paola provided lots of insight into how Mexican food is intertwined with culture - this is a class I’d definitely recommend!
