Katuna - This border post between Rwanda and Uganda is where we will stop for visa checks and verification. It’s also a chance to use the restroom and freshen up. From here, it takes about 3 hours to reach Bwindi, passing through picturesque countryside perfect for photos.
Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, Uganda
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - After an early breakfast and with packed lunch, you’ll report to the Park Headquarters for a briefing on the dos and don’ts of gorilla tracking. Guides will lead you through dense forest to find the gorillas, a trek that can take from half an hour to most of the day, depending on the gorillas’ movements. The forest is dense but accessible via animal trails. Spending time with these endangered creatures is an extraordinary experience. Along the way, you may also see other primates, birds, and rare trees. After locating the gorillas, you’ll have one hour with them before returning to the Park Headquarters to receive a certificate for your participation.
Golden monkey tracking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park - After an early breakfast, we’ll drive to Mgahinga National Park for a briefing before embarking on your golden monkey trek. This walk offers stunning views of the western escarpment and the chance to see dikers, bushbucks, forest buffalo, and various birds. After the trek, we’ll transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for evening relaxation and an overnight stay.
Boat trip on Lake Bunyonyi and transfer to Kigali International Airport
Lake Bunyonyi - Enjoy a boat trip on Uganda’s deepest lake, exploring historical islands like Upside Down Island, Sharp’s Island, Leprosy Island, and Punishment Island. Expect to see otters and numerous bird species. We’ll also take a short walk on Sharp’s Island before returning to the lodge for lunch, checking out, and transferring back to Kigali.
