TASTING IN THE DARK…

Journey deep into the darkness of our Fortified Cellar, we will turn down the lights, put on the blindfolds and pour wine into black wine glasses to discover what happens when you remove the sense of sight, and understand how it influences your wine tasting experience.

Tasting in the Dark is suitable for all levels, no prior knowledge required. This tasting is about enhancing your wine knowledge and gaining a deeper understanding of your palate - how you taste wine - to elevate the wine experience. You will walk away with wine sensory tricks and skills you can take to your next social gathering.

Your Sensory Exploration in Obscurity adventure will initiate at the Podesta Tintara Wine Area. You’ll connect with your facilitator at the Wine Area, who will lead you to our Rich Liquor Cask Room. Located on the low tier of the original winery, this room maintains a stable temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, so remember to carry a coat during the cooler periods. Your facilitator will then steer you through the process of tasting wine, explaining the part played by each sense. In low light, wearing blindfolds and savoring from dark-hued wine glasses, you’ll explore the effects of eliminating sight and comprehend its role in shaping your wine tasting journey. This tasting aims at broadening your wine understanding and obtaining a more profound discernment of your taste buds.
