Drive to Bukit Lawang for 3

• 3,5 hours drive passing by landscape with vast view of oil palm and rubber plantation to Bukit Lawang, En-route it’s possible to stop at rubber, oil palm and cacao plantations with some countryside landscape (optional). Bukit Lawang, the Orang Utan rehabilitation centre located in Gunung Leuser Park. This is one of the largest national parks in the world containing over 800,000 ha of virgin rainforest.

Arrive in Bukit Lawang, you will be welcomed by professional local guide for starting 3 hours jungle trekking in Gunung Leuser National Park to see the wildlife.
This involves a walk through the jungle to explore the park. Steep, slopes and dense vegetation will bring you the excitement of the rainforest. In this tropical primary rainforest, you can see Orang utans, Siamang (long arm apes), Thomas Leave Monkeys, long tail Macaque, Gibbon, different kinds of reptiles and varieties of birds. After jungle trekking, you return to Medan and drop you off at your hotel. Day tour ends.

Bohorok Rehabilitation Center serves as a sanctuary for Orangutans in Sumatra, located in the quaint village of Bukit Lawang. As one of Sumatra’s premier attractions, Bukit Lawang rests on the fringes of the Gunung Leuser National Park in North Sumatra, approximately 90 kilometers north-west of Medan, beside the pristine Bohorok River. A day’s expedition into this region includes venturing out on a jungle trek within the Gunung Leuser National Park. The journey begins in Medan, assuming your accommodation is already in the city. Expect a drive lasting between 3 to 3.5 hours to reach Bukit Lawang. Upon arrival at Bukit Lawang and following lunch, embark on a brief but exhilarating 3-hour trek through the jungle, offering chances to encounter semi-wild or fully wild Orangutans. The challenging terrain, with its steep inclines and lush undergrowth, presents the sheer thrill of exploring the Sumatran rainforest, while also allowing you to witness a variety of native plant and animal species. Trek participants must be in good physical condition and wear appropriate footwear with a solid grip.
