Comuna 13 - History, popsicles, views - the best! - Yeison met us at the San Javier Metro station and took us on a bus to comuna 13. He shared a lot of history about the comuna and took us to less touristy spaces (view a better view). He answered all of our questions and it was an easy to understand. The mangobiche popsicle was the best! Great morning tour before it gets really packed!!

Amazing Tour, Must See, and Great Tour Guide! - This was a great, informative, eye-opening tour. Our tour guide, Cindy, was amazing. She was very knowledgeable, being a local resident in Comuna 13! She brought her perspective which made the tour even better. We learned a lot and were pleasantly surprised with additional adds (a breakdancing and rapping mini shows :)) The area is amazing too! Must see.

Amazing tour in Comuna 13 - We did the graffiti tour in Comuna 13 with Juan, who grew up there and lived through the violent times this place has seen. He is a really good guide, gave us lots of information about Comuna 13, how the farmers that got robbed of their lands arrived there, on the confict between the guerillas and why it was for them such a strategic place to control, the military operations led by the government, and insights on how it was to live there. He also showed us how people reinvented the place through art, and explained us the meaning of the different murals that you can see here. It was an amazing tour, I highly recommend it!

Christian P was great and the tour was a ton of fun! - Christian P was an EXCELLENT tour guide. We really enjoyed understanding the crazy history that has shaped this community. It’s beautiful, vibrant, fun, and most importantly, it is very safe. There are lots of places to eat and drink and get a very different and authentic perspective of what it was like to grow up in Columbia during all of the Gang, government, and guerilla violence as well as to learn about the amazing people who collaborated over many years to transform this neighborhood into what it is today. we highly recommend this tour! Thank you Christian sharing so much of your knowledge with us and making it so much fun!

Didn't find it particularly enjoyable / informative - This was a bit of a strange tour. The tour guide grew up in the area but didn't really give any explanation of the story of the transformation of this district. What we received was mostly in the form of disparate anecdotes in the style of teenage boasting - talking about invisible borders that he had to cross to see all his girls, gangsters who executed people on football fields and played football after, and look at these bullet holes. This was in between stopping at a seemingly random selection of murals with no clear narrative arc and stopping to simply point out other towns on the horizon with no indication of their significance. As a final surreal ending - the tour finished at the guide's house that meant that people had to get directions for how to get to the bus/ taxi stop to get back to the start point. This tour may be good for groups of young guys who want to get instagrammable photos of themselves near various murals whilst hearing some war stories from someone who was there but if you want to learn the fascinating story of how one of the most violent and unruly neighbourhoods came into being and was recently transformed, I would look elsewhere.

Horrible tour guide - I don’t like writing reviews as I have always had great experiences on many tours I have taken. I have learned in my past experiences that you can always contact your tour guide and let them know you are running late and some of them will tell you where they are at in case you are running late even if that means you pay for your own transportation on getting there. I was willing to do that. I contacted the agency as well as the tour guide Yason that was running late due to traffic. He sent me his location to the meeting point and after 15 mins his location shut off. I tried to contact him several times so I could figure out where he was an no response. Tried contacting the agency directly and no one answered. I decided to look at the itinerary to guide myself and I had a WAY BETTER EXPERIENCE on my own. Later in the day I received a voice memo from my tour guide letting me know I “should have been there on time” just like everyone else to get the full experience. To be honest I had a better experience on my own as I mentioned above without the tour guide. I didn’t bother to reply as I was having an amazing time, they can keep my money at this point. I will say I would of rather gone with the other agency’s that were there offering their services as there was more than 15 of them and seemed a lot more friendly and willing to help try to contact this agency even though they had nothing to do with the issue. Never again and hopefully this doesn’t happen to anyone else.
