- Tranvia wellness center - The tram, along with much of the city’s public transportation, has become a symbol and source of pride for the region’s residents. It exemplifies resilience, development, and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Medellin’s inhabitants by fostering connectivity. Starting from San Antonio, we head to the final station, where we board the cable car and enjoy a panoramic view of the historic city center.
- La Sierra - Upon reaching the cable car, it will transport us to the highest neighborhoods on the hillside. During the ride, we will provide a brief introduction and discussion on the city’s and neighborhood’s history. As tour guides, we aim to show visitors the socio-economic and urban transformation the city has undergone. Our goal is to challenge and dispel the stigma of being “the most violent city in the world” and instead highlight Medellin as one of the most innovative cities, boasting one of the best public transportation systems. Despite adversity, its residents are resilient and joyful, making the most of their circumstances.
- Institucion Educativa La Sierra - Once we are in the neighborhood, a social leader will pick us up (by car or motorbike) and take us to a coffee farm. Here, you will learn about the Colombian coffee process, from seed to cup, and enjoy a coffee tasting. The essence of a Colombian family lies in their love for their work and people. We will walk through some neighborhood streets and meet Norman and Edilma, a fascinating and inspiring family who moved from the countryside to the neighborhood and now thrive thanks to coffee. This coffee is enjoyed in other countries and the best coffee shops in town. This visit offers a chance to learn about the culture and daily life of an average citizen, uncover the hidden details of the city, and understand the neighborhood’s experiences, dynamics, and social and urban projects.
- Mirador segundo piso estación Metrocable - Finally, we will have a typical lunch, either prepared by a community member or at the coffee plantation. We will visit several projects that are part of this experience, including the parish, the youth action headquarters, and listen to the residents who witness the community’s transformation. Our country is known for its diversity and landscapes, and the city is particularly noted for the surrounding mountains. We will walk through the mountains, take photos of the city and murals, and explore the heart of the neighborhood. Once stigmatized by violence and exclusion, today it stands as a beacon of hope, demonstrating the importance of investment and inclusion in any society.
- Plaza Botero - Botero Square is a significant and iconic space in the city, featuring 23 sculptures donated by artist Fernando Botero. It is also a place to observe the city’s dynamics, commerce, daily life, public transport, and the most important buildings in the area.

Comuna 8 La Sierra tour focuses on having the experience to be immersed in a typical neighborhood in the city, exploring what we want to be known for: education, entrepreneurship, resilience as well as having a better understanding as to the city’s background.
We also visit part of the historic district, where you can appreciate the Botero’s sculptures and the most emblematic buildings of the region.
We seek to confront the stigma of being once “the most violent city in the world” and swap it to one of the most innovative cities, which counts with one of the best public transport systems, where its inhabitants, despite adversity, are resilient and have good living standards.
We believe in sustainable tourism, and that is why we leave a great percentage of what we make for different social projects aiming to improve the development in the neighborhood we are visiting, where we will have the opportunity to interact and meet the ones who make this experience possible.
