Experience the mild March mornings in Megalochori, where the blend of scenic views and exquisite wine tours create an unforgettable journey. With perfect weather for exploration, indulge in Santorini’s hidden gems and renowned viticulture.
Morning Strolls and Hidden Gems
As the sun rises over the Aegean Sea, casting a golden hue across the island of Santorini, the village of Megalochori awakens to the gentle embrace of March’s mild weather. The air is crisp, yet inviting, perfect for a morning exploration of the island’s hidden gems. Begin your day with a Hidden Gems Tour that starts at 9:00 AM, offering a private journey through Santorini’s less-traveled paths. This tour is not just about sightseeing; it’s an intimate experience where your guide, who doubles as a photographer, captures your moments against the stunning backdrop of whitewashed buildings and azure domes.
The tour meanders through the picturesque village of Oia, where the views over the caldera are nothing short of breathtaking. As you wander, the scent of blooming flowers mingles with the salty sea breeze, creating an intoxicating aroma that lingers in the air. The tour includes a delightful wine tasting session, paired with local cheese and olives, offering a taste of Santorini’s rich culinary heritage. A recent review from September 2024 captures the essence of this experience:
Truly private and one of a kind! I cannot say enough great things about Nikos and his company. It is truly private and he values quality over quantity. I entrusted him completely in helping me plan my proposal to my boyfriend and if I had dreamed it, it couldn’t have been better. He was more of a friend than a tour guide. Nikos will always hold a special place in our hearts and I highly recommend him! (Reviewed at: 2024-07-28)
Afternoon Indulgence in Viticulture
As the day progresses and the sun reaches its zenith, the mild temperatures make it an ideal time to delve into the world of Santorini’s renowned wines. The Wine Tasting Tour begins at 3:00 PM, offering a five-hour journey through the island’s most esteemed wineries. This private tour is a sensory delight, crafted to leave you breathless as you explore the unique viticulture practices and indigenous grape varietals that define Santorini’s wine.
Your journey includes visits to three distinct wine estates, each offering a unique perspective on the island’s winemaking traditions. At the Hatzidakis Winery, you’ll discover organic vineyards that have been cultivated since 1997, while the Anhydrous Winery introduces you to wines shaped by volcanic rocks and sea breezes. The tour culminates at the Santo Winery, where the sunset view is as exquisite as the wines themselves. A review from September 2024 highlights the tour’s allure:
Awesome Day In Santorini - Yiannis picked us up right on time in Oia. The van was roomy and very comfortable. Took us to a vineyard and showed us the unique vines of the area. We then visited a few wineries. We finished at Santo wines and had a wonderful view of the sunset. I would definitely recommend this tour and would go with him again! (Reviewed at: 2024-09-19)
