A great experience - A fantastic and impressive experience. An institution in Meissen for several hundred years. The history of porcelain is impressively presented. The only problem is wanting to have it afterwards.

Meissen miracles - Seeing how the china is made and decorated on the tour was mind boggling!! The talent and expertise of the workmen and seeing the intricate craftsmanship required gives extraordinary insight into the individual quality of these items.

Blown away by creativity - As a couple we just strolled in, too late for the last tour of the day. Even without the explenation from the guide we learned a lot and were blown away by the many creations. With item prices from 100 € for a simple plate, like the ones you buy from IKEA, to a price of 60.000 € for amazing creations of vases, animals, clocks and much much more, there is plenty to see in this big and cool building. It is not a good place to bring small children because of the many fragile (and expensive) things on open display.

Well worth a visist. - This was highly interesting , especially seeing the artist work on the porcelain in little individual sessions. Everything was explained very well and there was also an audio visual session on the history of the factory. Opportunity to see some of the original pieces in the museum and the modern works as well Guide we had was extremely knowledgeable

Watch artists at work - A great insight into "white gold", the making of porcelain. I joined the tour to see the artisans working on creating the vessels, refining figurines and hand-painting plates. It was great to see their skills. I paid extra for the headset to listen to the information in English. My headset had a few issues and was eventually replaced. I don't think it's essential to listen to the headset as you can understand what's happening by watching the artisans. You can take photos of them too! The building has lots of porcelain to view, including the traditional styles and new works by international artists. There's a shop to buy products (and yes, they're incredibly expensive but after watching the work that goes into making each piece, it's understandable). There's also an outlet store, but it too is pretty pricey. You can easily spend a couple of hours wandering around. There's also a cafe and really clean (and free!) toilets. The museum is a nice walk from the old town. The staff are nice too.
