DAY 1: SAIGON – BEN TRE – CAN THO (L)

Pick up from your hotel in Saigon for a two-hour drive to Ben Tre. Upon arrival at Hung Vuong pier, embark on a boat cruise along the Ham Luong river, a branch of the Mekong. The tour includes visits to local workplaces such as a brick kiln, where bricks are meticulously handmade; a coconut processing workshop, where you can taste fresh coconut and see how every part of the nut is utilized; and a mat weaving house, where you can try weaving straw mats using a hand loom.

Next, enjoy a 15 km bicycle ride through serene country lanes, passing various gardens with coconuts, cassava melons, cucumbers, and colocynths. Visit Mr. Khanh’s house to admire an antique pottery collection, then continue cycling to a rice field. Stop at a riverside restaurant for a delicious lunch featuring local specialties like elephant-ear fish and river shrimp, accompanied by cold drinks or beer. After lunch, take a relaxing rowing boat trip along narrow canals. Return to Hung Vuong Pier and proceed to Ham Luong, Co Chien ferry for Can Tho. Check in at the hotel.

DAY 2: PHONG DIEN & CAI RANG FLOATING MARKETS – RACH GIA – PHU QUOC ISLAND (B)

At 5:00 am, embark on an early boat trip to visit the unique floating markets of Phong Dien and Cai Rang. Relax on the boat, enjoy morning coffee served by a local coffee boat, and observe the bustling trade from boat to boat. Phong Dien is smaller and more retail-focused, while Cai Rang is larger and wholesale-oriented. Fruit lovers can find the freshest produce here. As the boat navigates through the market, experience the lively sounds of bargaining, rowing, and motoring, mixed with the sounds from various vendor boats.

After exploring Phong Dien, the boat will speed through the Mekong River channels, passing rural villages, and arrive at the larger Cai Rang floating market. This market offers a vivid picture of the floating traders’ life in the Mekong Delta. The next stop is a local fruit orchard where you can enjoy tropical fruits and learn about local life. Return to the hotel for check-out and head to Rach Gia to catch the Super Dong Express boat at 1 pm to Phu Quoc Island.
