Peter B - My wife and I did this tour yesterday and thought it was fantastic. The scones for morning tea at Woodlands Homestead were fabulous. It was wonderful to see the "Living Legends" looking so content in their retirement. Our host Tamara did a fantastic job and made the day for us.

We so enjoyed this tour! Meeting... -
We so enjoyed this tour! Meeting all the Champion Racehorses like Melbourne Cup winners Rogan Josh, Zipping and Efficient was such fun. The historic homestead was lovely too, and the Devonshire tea to die for. Woodfire pizzas at the wine tasting then the boutique brewery at Woodend finished off a lovely day. Simon the guide was great and you just felt like a mate was showing you around. Highly recommended.

This is a very enjoyable and... -
This is a very enjoyable and interesting tour for solo travellers, couples or groups. We only had 7 on our tour and 6-12 is probably an ideal number.

The tour operator collected me from my Hotel on time and we arrived back in Melbourne on schedule or thereabouts. There is not a lot of travelling involved and plenty of time at the three locations visited.

My highlight was the visit to Woodlands Homestead including Devonshire Tea in the Homestead and the opportunity to mingle with so many retired champion racehorses such as Might and Power, Fields of Omagh and Better Loosen Up. No horse riding, just in case you were wondering!

Living Legends is a must for horse lovers or animal lovers generally, irrespective of whether or not you have any interest in horse racing. It was an amazing experience and our guide was exceptional. Her intimate knowledge of the horses, their personalities and mannerisms was nothing like I have heard before.

Our last stop at the Holgate Brewhouse was not too far behind Woodlands Homestead in terms of enjoyment. This iconic hotel is charming and was an ideal location to taste a fine selection of Holgates beers. Our hostess was very knowledgeable, engaging and an absolute delight.

The only let down was our second stop at a winery. While the location was very pleasant and the wood fired pizzas for lunch were okay, the wine tasting was lack lustre and disappointing. The only commentary we got was the name of each wine which we could have read ourselves.

Despite this hiccough, I thoroughly recommend this tour.

Thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of... -
Thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of this well organised and highly enjoyable tour. Living Legends was terrific. A real must for horses lovers or Melbourne Cup enthusiasts with the homestead and morning tea a real plus. The wine tasting and accompanying commentary at our next destination was enlightening and the wood fire pizza - delicious. Finishing the day in a quiet, country town sampling boutique beers was a happy ending to a lovely tour.
