The Rip Curl Pro Surfing competition is held here annually over the Easter weekend. - Anglesea - This seaside town along the scenic Great Ocean Road is situated on the Anglesea River, between the coastal towns of Torquay and Aireys Inlet. Anglesea is a significant town on the Great Ocean Road as it marks the first spot southwest of the road’s official start at Torquay where it meets the coast. - Aireys Inlet - A small coastal town and inlet on the Great Ocean Road, southwest of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Aireys Inlet is located between Anglesea and Lorne and is joined with Fairhaven to the west. Many surfers vacation in Aireys Inlet to enjoy the popular Fairhaven beach. - Great Ocean Road Memorial Archway - This Memorial Arch is a tribute to the World War One servicemen who built the Great Ocean Road. It’s a great spot for a quick photo in front of this beautiful memorial. - Lorne - A picturesque seaside town situated by the Erskine River, Lorne is a popular destination on the Great Ocean Road and one of many environmentally protected areas. - Kennett River - A small coastal town between Lorne and Apollo Bay, home to Koalas, Parrots, and Kookaburras. Walk through the nearby eucalyptus forest to spot Koalas and feed the native birds. At night, observe a colony of glow worms in the nearby Great Otway National Park. - Cape Patton Lookout Point - The highest lookout point on the Great Ocean Road, perfect for a photo opportunity! - Apollo Bay - Visit the charming village of Apollo Bay, located at the foothills of the Otways. Enjoy the southern ocean waters, wander the coast, and explore petrified rainforests filled with waterfalls, ferns, and crystal-clear streams. - Great Otway National Park - Experience the wonders of the Great Otway National Park and its lush surrounding rainforests. Take a stroll through the ancient rainforest and discover lush fern gullies, dense forests, and some of the largest hardwood trees on the planet, some of which are up to 300 years old! - Twelve Apostles - These magnificent rock formations rise from the southern ocean. The constant winds have softened the limestone cliffs, forming stunning caves that eventually became arches. When these arches collapsed, the high rocks were isolated from the shore. They change color from dark to sandy yellow in the full sun at different times of the day. - Loch Ard Gorge - Named after the ship Loch Ard, which shipwrecked on this coastline in 1878. Rich in history, you’ll hear the story of how two people survived. Bring your camera to capture the unique rock formations. - Port Campbell - A vibrant seaside village with plenty to offer. Take a walk to Pt Campbell jetty to watch the waves crash against the cliffs. It’s a place to slow down and take in everything that embodies the Great Ocean Road. - London Bridge - Once a double-spanning bridge connected to the mainland, London Bridge was formed over hundreds of years by wind and water erosion. It collapsed unexpectedly in January 1990, with an incredible story behind it!
