Additional Information

Delve into Memphis’ darker side and listen to stories of its haunted past, as told by experienced narrators. The South Main Historic District of the city - a diverse, vibrant neighborhood with some of the oldest structures in the city - is well-known for its history of sensational killings and supernatural occurrences. Throughout this two-hour pedestrian exploration, you will visit multiple sites known for their paranormal activity, such as:
• The Orpheum Theater, the residence of ‘Mary,’ a spirit that has been disrupting shows since 1921
• The John Alexander Austin House, a Victorian mansion haunted by ill-fated lovers
• The infamous Ernestine & Hazel’s, a former house of ill repute acknowledged as one of the most haunted places in Memphis. We will guide you through this eerie establishment, host to numerous specters and a haunted music machine.

  • Within a few blocks there are four different parking garages, and several open-air parking lots. The closest garage to our location (just two blocks away) is at 149 Peabody Place between Second Street and BB King Blvd., next to the Hampton Inn. You can try your luck with on-street metered parking, too, on Second Street just south of Beale; on Beale between Front and Second; or along Peabody Place from Front to Fourth Street.
  • This tour covers a distance of approximately 2 miles on public sidewalks with some elevation.
  • This tour is conducted outside and does not include entrance into any of these buildings. Please dress accordingly.

Great tour - Loved this tour. It was so much more than a ghost tour. Our guide, Daniel, was very knowledgeable on the history of Memphis which intertwined with telling the detailed stories of the spirits we visited. He was great with our kids and also pointed out some great diner options for our stay.

SO much fun and great history! - My sister and I went Monday night and had so much fun! Sheena was an amazing tour guide! Super knowledgeable and you could tell she really loves the history of each location. She was such a great storyteller and kept us completely engaged. Really hoping we'll be able to do another tour with her as the lead before we leave town. I think I may have gotten an orb-ish pic on the lovers' porch? I'm gonna just pretend that's what it is lol Even without any successful ghost pics, the stories about the ghosts were great entertainment!

Less than expected - It was more a Memphis history lesson. You are only allowed into one building that is said to be haunted.
