Fun Time - Javi and Jorge were excellent guide and driver. Javi spoke clearly and the tour was very enjoyable. Jorge navigated the roads (some) under construction very well. Izamel was my favorite... it has an old pyramid there that you can climb and it was so fun! I would highly recommend the tour!

Amazing Trip with Two Experienced People - An amazing guide, Birdie, who has a great sense of humour, extremely knowledgeable and very sensitive to all members on the tour. The bus driver was careful and safe as well as willing to communicate with the members of the group.

Great tour - Pablo was a great host and gave excellent historical information in english and spanish. I did think we would be in a bigger van type of vehicle but it was a very small group so the car was fine. My only complaint ( no fault of the company) was 2 of the other patrons consistently were late arriving back for the time we were given to meet back up after exploring on our own..please be considerate of everyones time. Its a long enough day as it is. The food at the restaurant was good as well and additional drinks not included were reasonably priced .

Good time all around - I think the cenote at Ik Kil was my favorite part, but it was also amazing to see Chichen Itza. Wilbert was a great tour guide.

Chichen Itza, Cenote and Izmal tour review - The guide speaks without a break between Spanish and English, so an English speaker has to concentrate on the Spanish in order to be ready when the guide reverts back to English. Very informative, but the details of the pyramid are complex and abundant. Tbe cenote was a fun experience, but the walk down to the water barefoot was painfull, as no shoes were allowed. The meal was very good, supplemented with music and two dancers. Ismal visit was OK, but nothing special. I would recommend this tour.

A Long, Interesting but Challenging Day - The tour delivered on all the activities promised. It was wise to go to Chichen Itza in the mid-afternoon when the crowds were less than earlier in the day. The guide was very knowledgeable and shared his information in both Spanish and English. We had a full van of about 12 tourists and left Merida by about 8:45 am. Having said the above, I found: 1) the visit to Izamal to be a waste of time. It seemed to take almost an hour to get there and the village is very small with nothing of note to see except the old convent on the hill. Other sites in the Merida area are more compelling. 2) We were taken to a cenote near Chichen Itza to swim. I think it is called Ikil(?) I followed the process of getting a locker and changing into my bathing suit in a small, cramped cubicle within a large, Ladies Room called a "Dressing Room"; proceeding to the outdoor shower area to shower before taking a swim; and then walking to the site of the circular stairs down to the cenote. No one had prepared me for the depth of the wet, stone staircase one must descend to get to the pool below. The cenote is very deep below ground level and the walk down is not for the faint hearted or anyone not sure of foot. I have a slightly deformed ankle which does not permit me total mobility and another lady on our trip had just broken a small bone in her foot before coming to Mexico. The two of us struggled with what to do. I did make it down to the water for a swim (which was wonderful), but she decided most of the way down she could not go any further. The walk back up takes patience as well. No one with a disability associated with mobility should take this tour with the expectation of enjoying the cenote. However, if you do not swim there you have to hang around (perhaps in the snack bar area) for 1 1/2 hours waiting for everyone else. 3) Then we were taken to a buffet lunch in a nearby restaurant. It was about 1:30. The food was fine, but to my and others' surprise, we had to pay cash for our drinks even though the tour claimed the lunch was free. Also, a tip basket was circulated. During our meal we were mildly entertained by two Mexican dancers. As we left they expected some form of financial appreciation as well, standing by the door with their own basket. I just smiled and waved good-bye. 4) We arrived At Chichen Itza at about 3:00. It certainly was worth seeing even with the crowds we did encounter. The walk to the site is lengthy and vendors line the route all along the way. Once there our tour guide explained much about the temple and its calendar importance. I must say however, that in the van and at Chichen Itza our guide provided too much encyclopedic data. Particularly at the end of a long day, folks are tired and not interested in lengthy lectures about the history of the Mayans at Chichen Itza. In my view, he needs to rethink the nature and amount of information he thinks his clients are interested in absorbing during his tour. To top off the frustrations about Chichen Itza, we could not exit near where we purchased tickets. Instead, exiting visitors were routed around back of the entry area, into numerous, connecting stores where more vendors awaited. We moved in a long line through each one until we emerged on the far side of the very large parking lot, and had to walk across it to find our van (which was parked by the entrance). We got back to Merida in the early evening after a very long and challenging day!

More quality and less quantity would have been better. - Chichen Itza and the cenote are worth seeing, but we would have preferred a more focused visit to Chichen Itza. Everything was rushed and it was difficult to absorb the information. Each lecture was given in Spanish followed by an English translation. So it lost some of the depth and clarity. The lunch was adequate, but forgettable. The tour bus was too crowded to get more than an average grade. The guide was knowledgeable, but the format was mechanical.

If you need advice read this - We left playacar and spend the full day and had dinner. Unfortunately the travel time was longer than the time spent admiring the ruins. Lunch they told us it would be free but I had to pay 200 pesos for 2 bottles of soda and 1 bottle of water which is extremely expensive for a Canadian. So get you to drink. Also take note to take organic cream and organic mosquito repellent because at the ruin you will have to pay 250 pesos for their mosquito repellent. Because these no accept anything non-biological for nature. Also be careful you will have to pay 60 pesos more if you have a professional camera and will not be able to bring plastic bottles please bring you thermos so you do not have to pay on site and fill them before leaving this is acceptable. Then be careful you will get harassed for their memory that you can buy the same anywhere in Mexico. Be careful they take advantage that you are tourists and sell them to you 3 times the price than normal. Ask the guide if you want to buy it will tell you where it is the cheapest. Also please note that all the excursions that you will make you will get your head filled by guides who earn only bread butchers and that you must give tips to all the excursions that you will make. This discouraged us but the ruins are definitely worth it if you take everything into consideration. Also bring you an umbrella if you don't really tolerate the heat because it doesn't have much shade and the places that have shade there are souvenir sellers so if you stay there you will become their best friend and get harassed again to buy. Then they take you into town to buy alcohol they say it's free to taste but then you feel like you have to pay. If you do not want I advise you to bring some pesos and give them as a tip for tasting. The alcohol they sell is sold all over Mexico. But positive ruins are great.
