First we will get to know each other, then we will talk about the history of the embroidery that we are going to work on and the importance of its preservation, we will continue with the distribution of materials and we will begin to work with the embroidery.

At the end of the workshop, we will give a conclusion of what was learned and you will take home what you did in the workshop to finish or save it.

In this embroidery workshop, you’ll explore the charm of some of the most beloved embroidery styles (Otomi, Pepenado, and/or Cross Stitch) and learn their specific techniques.

The workshop features opportunities for participants to share their experiences, showcase their progress, and offer valuable tips. This fosters a collaborative and inspiring atmosphere where everyone can learn from one another.

Otomi Embroidery:
Discover the beauty of Tenango Embroidery, one of the most iconic Mexican embroideries from the central region of the country.

Pepenado Embroidery:
Learn the pepenado technique, a type of embroidery practiced by various indigenous groups in central Mexico. You’ll create a sample book featuring four different traditional designs, all hand-embroidered with colorful threads.

Cross-stitch:
Explore the most iconic embroidery of Yucatán. Known as counted thread or cross stitch, this technique is used to adorn the beautiful hipiles of the Mayan community.
