Between mangroves and fishermen: a relaxing trip - After the disappointing experience in Chichen Itza the day before, this time the tour operator pampered us. Although only my wife and I had booked this tour, Viajes Colibrì Yucatan didn't cancel it, and it turned into a semi-private tour. Victor, our guide-driver, was very kind and helpful. Once we arrived in Sisal, he left us in the hands of Manuel, a local expert who took us on a chalana ride through the mangrove tunnels of the Sisal lagoon. The water was a very particular red color, due to the tannins of the wood, which created beautiful contrasts with the surrounding environment. Manuel took us close to the flamingos and explained the whole life of the lagoon. Unfortunately Manuel speaks only Spanish. Too bad not to also pass in the crocodile area. The ojo de agua although picturesque and particular, nestled in the forest, is not as in the picture but rather a dark pool in which you have to find the courage to get wet... maybe it depends on the season. Afterwards we had free time to visit the fishing town of Sisal and eat at the sea under an umbrella! Recommended tour!
