Highlights
  • Williamson Square - Williamson Square is the starting point of the tour. Here guests will see one of the first squares in the city, which is home to one of Liverpool’s major film locations as well as numerous other cultural sights - including the Williamson Square Fountain.
  • Eleanor Rigby Statue - Whilst on Stanley Street, guests will see two important filming locations in the city and directly next to one of them, is one of Liverpool’s first statues, dedicated to The Beatles, which is the Eleanor Rigby statue.

Guests will learn of the hidden history of the statue as well as that of the two film locations which are merely yards away.

  • The Cavern Club - During the tour, we take a stroll down Mathew Street where you will see the exterior of the world-famous Cavern Club. Bookers will learn the history of the street along with information regarding the many popular musicians who have played in the venue over the years.

The street has also featured in numerous film & TV shows over the years, so you will learn all about these and although we don’t go inside the actual club, photographs are shown to give you an idea of what it was like inside back in the 1960s.

  • Castle Street - Castle Street is synonymous with film. Three major motion pictures have all been filmed on the street. Guests will hear about the making of these movies and how they were represented on the silver screen as well as taking in some of the wonderful views of Liverpool Town Hall and also the Queen Victoria monument.

Gary, your guide, will also inform guests on some of the local history of the area - Yes, there was actually a Castle on Castle Street, long ago!

  • Mann Island - As the tour approaches the famous River Mersey, Gary, your guide, will take you back in time to discuss the significance of the Strand - The 8 mile road that links together many of the Docks in Liverpool and how vital this road was in the advances of cinema.
  • Pier Head - On the banks of the wonderful River Mersey, you will be able to take in the spectacular views of the “Three Graces” of Liverpool. The Port of Liverpool, The Cunard and the Royal Liver Building - arguably the three most iconic buildings in the city.

Gary, your guide, will take you through the history of the area and how it relates to cinema and TV - which famous independent and Hollywood blockbuster films they have all appeared in as well as discussing how prominent the river has been in films made in the area.

  • Royal Liver Building - Outside the entrance of the Royal Liver Building, your guide will show you, with visual aids, which film and TV shows it has featured in over the years, as well as giving guests some interesting behind-the-scenes information from the cast and crew of when the cameras have stopped rolling.

Want to hear how they transformed one of Liverpool’s most iconic buildings to look like downtown Manhattan in the 1940s? This is the stop for you!

  • Exchange Flags - From Exchange Flags, you will see the exteriors of the magnificent Martins Bank and Liverpool Town Hall. You will learn some of the history of each building and then which famous films they have featured in and which once in a lifetime cinematic events have they hosted.

This is a perfect stop for fans of recent Hollywood blockbusters as well as musical lovers.

  • Dale Street - A stop mid-way down Dale Street, will reveal all of the secrets about a particular scouse cinematic staple and you will also discover why this road happens to be a personal favourite of Tom Hardy.
  • William Brown Street. - The penultimate stop of the tour is at the magnificent William Brown Street. Here, guests will see the mesmeric views of St John’s Gardens, the World Museum, Central Library, the Walker Art Gallery, County Sessions House and much more.

This stop has arguably the richest heritage regarding film and TV in the city. It has featured in countless productions over the years with household names and Oscar winners performing up and down the pavements and cobbles.

To find out its relationship with the silver screen, your guide, will take you through the decades, to discover just what a prominent area it has been, perhaps without you even realising it.

  • St. George’s Hall - On the steps of St. George’s Hall, the tour reaches its conclusion, but it does so with an impressive list of some of the biggest hitters to have filmed in the city.

Guests will hear some first hand, behind the scenes tales of some of the productions that have been filmed in the vicinity. If you’re after some of the backstage gossip that includes some A-List stars of the screen, then this is the stop for you.

Best day out for a long time - Brilliant tour from start to finish, there is nothing Gary doesn't know about the Liverpool film industry. Gary is funny with many stories and is keen to listen to others with their stories. Will defiantly do another tour . Well done Gary

A great way to spend a couple of hours in Liverpool even if you live here! - Thanks to Gary who runs the tour - it was a really informative and fun tour and the time just flew( always a good sign). His passion for films and his knowledge on this subject was great to listen to and made us want to watch all the films he mentioned again or for the first time. Gary also kindly sends a list of the films mentioned afterwards as well. A great tour and really good value.

The best walking tour in Liverpool - This was by far the best walking tour ever done in Liverpool Gary was entertaining and extremely knowledgeable and the 2 1/2 tour flew by - lots laughs along the way Lots of great back stories Gary sent an email afterwards with all the films he talked about ecommended and I compiling a list to watch already I can’t recommend this tour enough, please join to experience Gary’s amazing knowledge of film locations in Liverpool

Fantastic film fun - Great tour, guide so knowledgeable, really fun. 2 and 1/2 hours filled with great film facts, lovely locations and good pace. Never knew Liverpool is the 3rd most films made location in Europe. Having seen the beautiful architecture and situations not surprised.
