Romans vs Beatles - Unless you're making a Beatles pilgrimage, this trip to Chester is probably far more interesting. It was a small group tour (~12). Our guide was personable, engaging and informative. During the walking portion of the tour, most of the group split off on their own and we had the guide to ourselves. We were shown the Roman garden, amphitheater, and walls. There was ample time for individual exploration, to get a bite and quaff a pint or two. Interestingly, there's a Hickory's Smokehouse that seems to be a very legit BBQ even by US standards. (I didn't have the appetite to order a meal, but it looks and smells authentic.) A day in Chester - We had a wonderful tour with Gerry {Busy Bus Tours} to Chester from Liverpool. Gerry was very knowledgeable about all the history in Chester as well as on the trip from Liverpool. He did a walking tour with us on arriving in Chester pointing out the more interesting sites and telling us the history before giving us some time to explore things on our own. He was very accommodating to a disabled person on a scooter making sure she could see all she wanted to. Later, back in Liverpool, he was kind enough to drop me off at the post office so I could post my cards. Thank you, Gerry for a wonderful day!

A fun and relaxing day in Chester - We had an excellent time with Adrian our driver/guide and our time in Chester. The mini-bus was very comfortable and all 14 passengers had room to sit and spread out if needed. Adrian gave us lots of information on our drive from Liverpool to Chester and we could all hear him clearly as he used a headset microphone. Once in Chester, we had about a 1 hour walking tour and Adrian took us to the Roman Garden, the coliseum, and then we walked part of the old Roman City walls. After our walking tour was over, we had 2.5 hrs to explore the city on our own. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Chester and I highly recommend Busy Bus.

Thoroughly misrepresented and disappointing - We were totally disappointed in this excursion. It was described as a walking tour of the sights in Chester. NO WHERE IN THE DESCRIPTION DID IT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT CLIMBING STAIRS AND STEEP INLINES. Wr were a group of 6 senior citizens. Wr needed to leave the tour after about one quarter of the way through. The guide dropped us in the city center with directions of how to meet the bus for the ride back to the cruiseport. We felt this tour description was totally misleading. We would have NEVER booked a tour that included hours of walking up and down stairs and inclines.

Cruise Excursion was Canceled on Short Notice - Our July 2024 cruise was the vacation of a lifetime for my family which we spent many hours carefully planning beforehand. Unfortunately, our cruise excursion to Chester was canceled with less than 24 hours notice. Thankfully the day before was not a sea day, so I was able to check my email in Belfast and learned of the cancelation. BusyBus did offer an alternative tour to North Wales, but we had already made plans to meet up with friends in Chester. I was able to scramble to make alternative (and more expensive) arrangements for us to visit Chester through the cruise line (we were fortunate that their excursion had not sold out). To their credit, BusyBus gave us a fast refund. Emergencies happen, but I wish I had read other reviews before booking this excursion because after visiting Tripadvisor, I see that our predicament was not an isolated incident. If you book this excursion, I suggest that you purchase an internet plan so you can check your email and also that you have a "plan B" at the ready.

Cancelled with no notice - The tour was canceled with no notice. We were given a longer tour for no extra cost BUT I had wanted to do other things in Liverpool Ironically the only other comment was about a cancelled tour. Is this a pattern? What is “operational difficulties?”

Unable to share our story... - Unable to share our story as we were totally let down. We were advised the night before our trip was cancelled. Lucky we checked our emails that evening or we would have been standing looking for the driver for hours. No time to look for another tour. Thanks a lot Viator.

They didn’t show up - Busybus canceled at the last minute. I have seen other reviews that say the same thing. They were rude and couldn’t understand why I was upset waiting at the terminal (with others who were in the same position) with nothing to do
