Professional tour company and personable staff! - Our cruise ship docked in Taormina but I wanted to see the Caravaggios at the museum in Messina. Discover Messina Sicily was the right solution. Katia and team met me with the news that the museum had changed its hours for the day but they had a new plan to make for a great touring day. They stayed with me till the final hour when I reboarded my ship 7 hours later.

Excellent Tour - Our tour guide was Chiara. She was fantastic. She explained the art with so much passion. She was very accommodating of what we wanted to do with the extra time we had and made some recommendations of other things to see and do.

Best Tour Of Our Cruise - We were met right off our cruise ship. We joined our guide, Maria Laura, and jumped into the van with another couple from our ship. Maria Laura took us to many stops in the city, telling us the history, and interesting facts about Messina. One stop was for lunch, where I tried the local calzone. And another stop was at the bakery for cannnoli. After touring the city, we traveled outside the city, where Maria took us to the lakes. Our next stop was to the museum, where Maria gave us A personal guide there. Lastly, we went to Messina Cathedral and the Astronomical Clock to finish our tour. With plenty of time before our ships departure, we still had time to shop around the drop off at the port. Just A really pleasant day. We highly recommend this tour with Maria Laura, who answered all of our question. She really made the tour enjoyable.

Watch out for scam drivers. - Within 5 minutes, we meet 3 different men including our driver. Prior to my visit to Messina, I had contacted a company, I told the young lady where I wanted to go and we negotiated a price. Even though I asked our driver twice to take us to the Duomo first, Giofranco decided that he was going to take us to see a panoramic view of Messina which I didn't want to see. We ended up driving 40 minutes out of the way but we did finally go to the Duomo and the Messina Regional Museum. We missed the mechanical clock at Duomo because of our driver's insistence to see a panoramic view of Messina. At Messina Museum, we saw at least 2 employees inside the museum but I don't think they spoke English so I couldn't ask them for help. Also I had a portable scooter and it was a little scary going up a steep incline to the other floors so I carefully turned around on a landing and returned to the first floor. I'm not sure originally if there was an engineer working on this building because of this steep incline !!! Also we were told to depart through an exit door where there was a step so I had to carefully navigate this exit.
