- Taormina - Taormina is a magical destination where visitors can experience one of the most thrilling adventures of their lives. Anyone visiting Taormina to enjoy its allure will feel privileged. Perched on Mount Tauro, from which it derives its ancient name, Taormina is a natural terrace overlooking the sea, a dream for any tourist. Known as “The Pearl of the Ionian,” it is one of the most renowned and picturesque spots on Sicily’s eastern coast, surrounded by evocative ancient ruins, stunning views, and charming beaches!
- Corso Umberto - The historic heart of the city, stretching from Porta Messina to Porta Catania. Midway along the course is Piazza IX Aprile, a panoramic terrace flanked by the churches of Sant’Agostino and San Giuseppe. Nearby is the Middle Gate with the seventeenth-century Clock Tower.
- Naumachia - Antico Gymnasium romano - From Corso Umberto, steps and side streets lead to serene and picturesque corners. One such path leads to the NAUMACHIE, a grand brick thermal structure from the Roman imperial era, with a wall featuring 18 arched niches still standing.
- Palazzo Corvaja - Situated in Taormina’s Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, next to Corso Umberto, Palazzo Corvaja is a stunning architectural example from the fifteenth century. It narrates the history of Roman and later Arab domination, with modifications that also reflect the arrival of the Normans in Sicily. Palazzo Corvaja once housed the Sicilian Parliament. Today, it serves as the Archaeological Museum, showcasing a rich collection of artifacts from excavations in Taormina, including exquisite amphorae, Greek statues, sarcophagi, and vases from the Hellenistic and Roman periods.
- Ancient Theatre of Taormina - Renowned for its location, it is the emblem of the city and one of the most famous Sicilian monuments globally. It dates back to Hellenistic times, though it was almost entirely rebuilt during Roman times when it became a gladiatorial arena. From the steps, the view extends over Giardini Naxos and Mount Etna, offering a breathtaking spectacle.
- Castelmola - A seaside window just a stone’s throw from Taormina, Castelmola is among Italy’s most beautiful villages. Known for its ceramics, it is a place where history, art, and architecture converge. This natural terrace, built around the ruins of a Norman castle, offers one of the world’s most famous views, with fiery sunsets enhanced by the distinctive almond wine. The unique environment of “Bar Turrisi” awaits visitors in Castelmola. Before leaving, be sure to taste the sugar-dusted almonds and prickly pears!
- Isola Bella - Isola Bella is undoubtedly the emblem of Taormina, as well as a stunning nature reserve and protected area, nestled in the sea and accessible via a narrow strip of sand.
- Duomo di Messina - At the end of the tour, upon returning to Messina, if time permits, the driver will take you to the Cathedral of Messina, not far from the cruise port, where you can admire the renowned bell tower with the largest and most intricate astronomical and astrological clock in the world.
