Additional Information

Etna Urban Winery presents a distinctive vineyard tourism experience, nestled in a natural place on Mount Etna amidst the growing city. It’s where we’ve chosen to rejuvenate the age-old family practice of Etna viticulture, which is a contrasting choice in an area experiencing a surge in building and infrastructure development.

Great tour and tasting. Come for the wine, stay for the charm. - Visited for the guided sunset tour and tasting experience. The tour was conducted in English by a knowledgeable guide who offered many insights and also kept the tour entertaining. This is very much an urban vineyard, a vineyard located inside city limits, and the views are neighboring houses, antennae, and the lights from a gas station. Despite this - or perhaps because of - the grounds are beautiful. The vineyard is located in the same location as a vineyard that was abandoned many decades ago, and the current owners have carefully restored as much as possible of the old buildings and home. The tasting was accompanied by a flight of small(ish) dishes. Etna Urban Winery currently only makes one wine, so the tasting includes wines from other local Etna wineries. The wines and pairings were all good and worth tasting, and the food lovely. Despite being advertised as small dishes, we both found that the four appetizer-sized portions were enough to fill us up. If not, we would’ve been able to order an additional dish. Instead, we opted to finish the evening in the garden courtyard with a final glass of wine. In my opinion, Etna Urban Winery is well worth the visit for both seasoned wine enthusiasts and complete beginners. Both will get an entertaining look into a different type of winery and the Etna D.O.C. as a whole. Highly recommended.

Superb location! - Gem in the smoke of Catania! Enthusiastic tour with a beautiful history! Wine tasting was wonderfully supported with some small dishes. Then I got the main course. This was a delicious risotto! Unfortunately you can't buy all the wines you taste! But I can definitely recommend this tour! And we will definitely be back for a snack and a delicious glass of wine!

An unrushed and enjoyable experience - We had a wonderful, unrushed guided walk through the vineyard, which allowed us to explore the winery and learn about its history. The tasting was also excellent; the food and wine served were very good and well-paired. You could tell that in this place, they had really put some thought and effort into it. We recommend choosing the shuttle bus option the winery offers, because taxis can be very hard to get and expensive. Don’t book other activities on the same day as this, so you can really enjoy this experience and also not have to worry about transportation.

Buon cibo. Buon vino. Buon amici - "it's not where you are but who you're with." An absolute delight. As a solo traveler, you will either enjoy alone or be incorporated into a group. Both are fine options. Angela, the sommelier, made sure to involve me and integrate me into the family I was on a tour with. So many tour guides are dry and just give the facts; Angela shares a story and invites you to share what Etna Urban Winery is all about. Her outgoing, cheery nature allowed for a fantastic experience paired with delicious wine and amazing food. She has a great knowledge of the winery, the volcano, the soil, the history and culture of the winery and was able to convey her love for her profession, the wine and the estate. She turned a good exxursion into an amazing experience. I left with sore cheeks from laughing so hard, a full belly from Leonardo's fantastic cuisine and a light heart from magnificent wine. Bellisimo In addition, visiting this winery allows you to support a small business re-creating a historic winery in an unconventional approach. Bellissmo.

Overall magical & personal experience - This was such a magical experience! Angela our guide was the most wonderful person, very knowledgeable and passionate about her work and the winery. We were picked up and dropped off in the city centre with a shuttle (also great driver) and after arriving we had a half day at the winery. A coffee and water to start, a full tour of the historical vineyard and then a tasting of 4 beautiful etna wines with matching small dishes. Fantastic experience overall, i hope the winery will be there when (not if) we visit again!

A MUST when visiting Catania! - This was an absolute treat! Everything about the experience was perfect. We got picked up and taken to the winery and were welcomed with coffee and water. This place is stunning the villa and grounds are so beautiful with the volcano in the background. Our tour guide was so enthusiastic and she made the whole experience even better! The wine is delicious and the food pairings were AMAZING! It was the perfect date night and I hope to return again soon :) Thank you so much!

Fun and slightly too long tour - Fun and interesting story about the family business. For us a little too much explanation. Could have been half an hour shorter. Beautiful location. Tasted delicious wines at the end and ate tasty snacks.

Lovely experience, but the tour was a bit long! - The host/guide was kind and very sweet. She made sure that everyone felt welcome and showed personal interest in every guest. I believe her name was Angelina. Please give this woman a raise because she is I think one of the most enthousiastic and cheerful guides I have ever met :) The tour was interesting, but too long in our opinion. We had visited some other wineries/breweries/distilleries around the world before we came here, and we have the feeling that the entire tour was very stretched. Should take max 1,5 to 2 hours, not 3. The tapas that were served were delicious. During dinner, we were given the option to buy an extra dish (risotto) to fill our stomachs a bit more, but as we had already spent quite a long time here, we decided not to do it. Our tip is to make the tour a bit shorter, and offer the extra dish before guests start eating.
