Via Montetermini, 3A - In the 4 hours in air-conditioned workshop (9.30am-1.30pm//2.30pm-6.30pm) everyone creates their own piece of jewelery out of silver and takes it home as a souvenir of the wonderful activity. We will find ideas together. You don’t need to have any prior knowledge.
I also show how to melt and solder silver. You roll plates or pull wire yourself, depending on what you want to create. Then it is sawed, filed, hammered, sanded and polished until the piece of jewelry is finished.
You can also melt down old jewelry and give it a new shape or forge your own wedding rings!
In between there is a delicious snack with products from the area.
On request we can also set up a full day course, with a typical lunch (maybe pizza in our own wood-fired oven, depending on the weather).
All you need to bring is the desire to create something with your own hands: anyone can do it! Families with children also have a lot of fun with handicrafts and are always enthusiastic about their results (see gallery).
The workshop is cleaned with ozone technology for viruses, bacteria and mold. Disinfection gel and masks are available.

Take a break from the tourist crowds of Florence and venture into the Tuscan countryside to forge jewelry in a local workshop for a unique experience. You will learn how to create a unique piece of silver jewelry from scratch under the guidance of a qualified goldsmith: from melting the metal to polishing the finished piece. Experience the goldsmith tradition of Tuscany up close. A creative experience just half an hour from Florence. Step by step you will create a personal piece of silver jewelry. A private lesson tailored to the level and age of the group. You don’t need to have any previous knowledge! In between, you can strengthen yourself with a cup of coffee/water with your hostess and a small snack from the area. You can also bring old jewelry that is no longer worn and may have emotional value and give it a new life.

From Fornacette you drive up the mountain in the direction of Polvereto. After about 1.5 km turn left onto the dirt road, in Via Montetermini. After about 300m, after a tight right-hand bend, the parking place is in front of my rose-colored house on the right-hand side. I await my guests there.

Best experience ever!!! - Dörthe was amazing! She has the best communication and made sure that we arrived and left to our bus correctly even helped us find the best way! She let us sleep in and come on the 2nd bus! My 7 year old fell in love with her and her property. The countryside is so peaceful and beautiful and original. She made us the best lunch of fresh breads, meats cheeses and fruits! Ok so now to the actual experience. Wow!! One of the coolest experiences of my life. I brought my own old gold rings and we melted them down by hand, pressed our own gold sheets and cut, filed and shaped our designs. Really awesome to make my own jewelry by hand without cutting corners. I also learned so much about other jewelry making arts. We were never rushed and she was so super patient and just all around the best teacher. You can’t duplicate this type of love and dedication! Thank you for being the best part of our trip and we can’t wait to come back and stay close and make more jewelry! I’m hooked. 😍

A very special memory of our holiday in Italy - This is the second time I've attended Dörthe's course and I'm again so happy with my very special piece of jewellery and the great experience. Dörthe explained every step very patiently and clearly, so that even my boyfriend with 2 left hands got a super nice result. I made earrings and he made a bracelet and we're over the moon with our new jewellery! It's a really nice souvenir to take home with you. The course is a lot of fun and equally suitable for complete beginners or advanced people. Dörthe shows and tells lots of interesting things about jewellery making and also gives great tips for restaurants and activities to do in the area! A fully recommendation for anyone who wants to experience something special on their holiday in Tuscany.

Top - My sister and I had a great time in the jewelry studio. Unique ambience with a fantastic view. Dörthe guided us through this creative process with a lot of patience, commitment and love. The super delicious Tuscan snack was the icing on the cake. Now I have a great homemade birthday present for my daughter. A highly recommended highlight of my stay in Florence this year...must go!!🙏

Fun workshop making beautiful jewellery - This was such a wonderful experience. My kids and I really wanted to do a jewellery making workshop in Florence. However, not many places did day courses or courses for under 18 year olds.
We were so happy to find Dörthe's workshop. Not only is she a skilled goldsmith, she is also an excellent teacher and great with kids!
Dörthe's jewellery workshop is well designed, it takes you from making sterling silver to creating your own piece of jewellery which you can cherish forever.
It is set in the gorgeous hills outside Florence, in a very beautiful workshop. It really is a wonderful experience.
I highly recommend it if you are looking for a memorable experience near Florence.

Wonderful experience - I enjoyed the whole process. It was so fun, even the hard parts. The instructor was very knowledgeable and patient. She did an excellent job teaching us. I made earrings and I love the them.

The best activity we never had. - We were unfortunately unable to go to this at the last minute. However, up until that point, the host was very communicative and helpful. If the class was anything like the directions she gave before, it would have been amazing.

Traditional artisan jewellery class - What a great find this was. Was looking for something unique to do in Tuscany and this was brilliant. From melting our silver balls to creating a special pair of earrings Dorthe was friendly flexible and hospitable who welcomed us into her home and workshop. Highly recommend this traditional artisan jewellery class. So much fun.

Wish we could have had the experience - Please know that if you are staying in Florence this activity is not in or very near Florence and probably best attended only if you have a car. I booked this because it looked like a very unique activity for myself and my older kids but after much communication with the artist we were not able to find the correct bus to her location. The artist refused to refund any of our payment. I understand she is an artist and this is her livelihood but I also feel like it was unfair to not refund any of the payment since we were not able to get there based on the information provided. We bought the bus fare and spent 1-2 hours trying to get there. It is unfortunate all the way around but I cannot recommend this activity based on my experience. I wish it had been clear to me how complicated it was to get there (buses are not easy to navigate like trains in Florence).
