- Positano - The journey begins in Positano, the jewel of the Amalfi Coast, a favored spot for international celebrities, artists, and writers who sing its praises. In 1953, after his visit, John Steinbeck remarked: “Positano is deeply moving. It’s a dream place that doesn’t feel real until you’re there and you miss it a lot.” Today, it still…

Positano - The journey begins in Positano, the jewel of the Amalfi Coast, a favored spot for international celebrities, artists, and writers who sing its praises. In 1953, after his visit, John Steinbeck remarked: “Positano is deeply moving. It’s a dream place that doesn’t feel real until you’re there and you miss it a lot.” Today, it still captivates with its houses cascading down the slopes in sunlit hues of peach, pink, and terracotta. Its picturesque streets, with steep stairways framed by wisteria-covered gazebos, are home to charming craft shops, elegant restaurants, and fashion boutiques. As the journey continues towards Amalfi, the coastal route passes through the fishing villages of Praiano, Furore, and Conca dei Marini.

Grotta dello Smeraldo (Emerald Grotto) - The Emerald Grotto is one of the few caves open to visitors on the Amalfi Coast, renowned for its enchanting play of lights and colors. Situated in the bay of Conca dei Marini, between Amalfi and the quaint village of white houses, the Emerald Grotto is a popular attraction. Visitors can take an elevator to the cave entrance and explore it by boat, though the ticket price is not included. Discovered in 1932 by local fisherman Luigi Buonocore, it was named for the stunning color transitions from cobalt blue to turquoise, and then to emerald green, caused by sunlight passing through an underwater crevice connecting it to the open sea.

Amalfi - This beautiful city, which lends its name to the entire coast, is a must-see for anyone visiting Southern Italy. The Cathedral of St. Andrew the Apostle, in Arab-Sicilian style and rebuilt in Baroque style in the 1700s, features a magnificent staircase and a breathtaking cloister. Amalfi enchants with its hillside houses, pointed towers, and the majestic mountain that accompanies visitors all the way to the sea, creating a stunning convergence of land and water.
Continuing to Ravello, the final stop, travelers will encounter Atrani, a picturesque blend of narrow streets and white arches, where the wind dances through the lively central square and along the charming beach.
- Ravello - This enchanting town is nestled on a mountain 350 meters above sea level, away from the bustling activity below. Ravello is a sophisticated destination on the Amalfi Coast, renowned for the allure of its villas: the gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone offer breathtaking views. In 1880, Richard Wagner found inspiration for his opera Parsifal while strolling through the romantic garden of Villa Rufolo, restored in the mid-1800s by Scotsman Francis Neville Reid. In 1904, Mr. Grimthorpe, a Briton, purchased Villa Cimbrone and created an extravagant garden with an impressive view.
Ravello is home to the coast’s most beautiful church, the Cathedral of Ravello. It also boasts a remarkable example of contemporary architecture: the futuristic New Energy Oscar Niemeyer Auditorium, a stunning white concrete and glass structure overlooking the Gulf of Salerno, designed to reflect the waves.
