Additional Information

THIS IS A MAJESTIC JOURNEY not a routine sightseeing

Let’s embark on a stroll through the significant landmarks, and I would be enthralled to reveal several offbeat places known only to the locals.

The initiation point is at Italy’s largest square: Piazza del Plebiscito, home to Naples’ Royal Palace and the city’s most ancient pub (Gran Cafè Gambrinus). We’ll saunter together through Via Toledo, traversing from one end of the city to the polar opposite, eventually reaching the UNESCO Historical Center of Naples (Greek/Roman aspects). Along our wanderings, we can delve into the Spanish Quarter, the indigenous market of Pignasecca. Don’t worry, it’s not a race, so we could also pause along our route to enjoy local gastronomy, and undoubtedly, a traditional ‘Caffè’ from Naples!

Our exploration carries on at Piazza del Gesù, showcasing the most grandiose baroque church in the city, Piazza Bellini where the ancient Greek boundaries of ‘Neapolis’ stand, Via dei Tribunali possessing the oldest tower of Pietrasanta, San Gregorio Armeno (home to artisans), Spaccanapoli, and the Duomo of S. Gennaro along with his sacred Blood!

Best Naples tour with the best guide - Excellent guide with Raffaele who had so much knowledge about all that we saw and was able to show us so much more than normal guide books. He was so proud of his heritage and culture and this just shone through during the tour. He got us past the crowds and being such a small group tour we could adapt and see things and ask questions at any time and he always had an answer for us as his knowledge is superb. Would definitely use again when we return

Ancient Wine Spicing - I've taken a few virtual tours now with Naples Grand Tour. This past Sunday I hosted a wine spicing event with several friends from around the US and Canada. Raffaele provided history as well as instructions about how to create wine drinks from the time of Pompeii through the Renaissance. It was so much fun. Everyone loved it and it was a chance for us Covid-bound people to experience a little bit of Italy on a Sunday afternoon. It was wonderful! Highly recommend.

Virtual Tour Whets Appetite for Future Trip! - Virtual Raffaele is clearly almost as engaging as the reviews in person. We would definitely book him for a future trip to Napoli! He is experienced, amusing and offers information beyond what is generally available on line. We actually loved the format where he used videos and pananoramic photographs to orient us to the charms of Naples. Really liked that he started us at the city center as though we were on a walking tour. And his photograph of the margherita pizza at the end of his 1 1/2 hour presentation compelled us to order one from our local upscale pizzaria.

Amazing! - Raffaele is a wonderful guide! In addition to the Naples tour, I also went to Herculaneum with him and a few others from our first tour. He is very personable, great at answering questions you may have, and the pace is excellent for both novices and experts. The pricing is also unbeatable. I went to both the underground tour and a ragú restaurant he recommended in Naples, both were wonderful. Raffaele also makes himself available for further questions after the tour via various methods of communication. I definitely recommend taking a tour if you’re in the area!

Raffaele was awesome - Raffaele showed us around Naples on the Saturday and we saw and learned an incredible amount about the culture, architecture and food of Naples. Raffaele was amazing and even went out of his way to ensure we got tickets for the football that evening. We met him again on the Sunday and his knowledge of Pompeii was hugely informative( I am a history teacher and have been many times) and I learned many things about this historic site I did not know. I can not recommend him enough- even though his girlfriend wouldn’t let him come to the football with us!

Special last minute tour of Naples FANTASTICO - We had a last minute change of plans and emailed Rafaela at Naples Grand Tour. She set us up with a fantastic lady,Roberta, who met us outside Garibaldi station. We had a delightful tour of Naples old city center, saw churches and historical buildings that we would have missed on our own! Her enthusiasm and a grasp of history, recalling names and dates was truly amazing. She treated us to the best cafe in Naples and took us to the special street,Via San Gregorio Armeno, where artisan shops have been carving and creating crêches for over 800 years. I have always wanted to see this and Roberta got me there! We have had many tours and this lady was one of the BEST!!! Grazie Mille!

Naples history - Our guide was a true historian. He was so knowledgeable about the cities historical background. It was a very eye opening tour with a lot of history of the region. The only negative would be he spoke fast with an accent a little hard to understand some times

Expensive walk around city - Most expensive - $390 - and ridiculous 4 hours spent in Naples on an “archeological” tour. Great guide but basically it was just a walkabout of the city of Naples which does not have much to show compared to other sights in Italy. Shame on the tour company
