The National Archaeological Museum of Naples serves as a vital vault containing diverse collections from the Magna Grecia era, the initial Egyptian collection seen in a contemporary museum, the grand display of the Farnese family’s statue collection featuring Hercules and the commanding Toro group. Finalizing with a spectacular exhibition of the myriad artifacts unearthed from 1738 in the cities of Ercolano, Pompei, Stabia, Oplonti - containing mosaics, day-to-day items, the erotically intriguing secret Cabinet, and frescoes that transport us back to 79 AD, the year Vesuvius wiped out the bordering cities. All of these marvels are housed in the grandiose seventeenth-century palace, situated at the terminus of one of Naples’s most historic central arteries.
