Assembly and collection will take place at the cruise terminal. A 2-hour guided tour of Pompeii, a thriving civilization entombed for 1,700 years, now revived, will let you experience life as citizens of the world’s greatest ever empire did.
You will begin your journey into Pompeii through the Sea Gate, leading you to the Forum first. The Forum, the major square of Pompeii, is fringed by temples, arcades, and courts of law. This provincial city was home to 20,000 individuals, with 2,000 meeting a horrific end due to Vesuvius’s cataclysmic eruption in AD 79. Pompeii was shrouded with twenty feet of volcanic ash and pumice, much of which has been excavated over the past 200 years to shed light on Pompeii’s daily lifestyle.
The second half of the day will see you traveling to Naples to explore the Baia Archeological Park. A private boat will take you snorkeling in what once was an ancient Roman vacation spot, today submerged underwater!
Following your visit, you will head back to the cruise terminal.
