An experience of a lifetime - Our trip to Pompeii and Herculaneum was exceptional. We took the high-speed train and then meet our tour guide for a trip of a lifetime. We went to Pompeii first with a tour hour tour and then proceeded to Herculaneum. Our tour guide was an archologist which gave us information that we would never receive from doing the tour on our own. I will highly recommend the trip to a friend who is visiting Rome in the near future.

Wonderful tour - We had an amazing tour guide. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. All the transportation/logistics getting to/from Pompeii and Rome was taken care of for us. All we had to do was show up! If you’re looking to see Pompeii this is the tour to book.

Highly recommend to understand what you're looking at! - Great tour, we had Raphael take us around. He was really informative about both sites anyway and then patiently answered all of our questions too. I hadn't heard of the herculanium before, but well worth seeing a better preserved site.

Amazing Pompeii/Herculaneum trip with archaelogist - We booked our Pompeii and Herculaneum trip through Askos Tours using the GetMyGuide app. Taking the high-speed train from Rome to Naples was so easy (we have friends who made the same trip but took a bus and it took four hours instead of one hour to get home). Our guide Michele (pronounced Michael) is in fact an archaeologist and was profoundly knowledgeable about everything we were seeing. Compared to those wandering around aimlessly with hand-held audio guides, we had an amazing day visiting these two incredible sites. Yes, it’s a long day of ruins (and dead people) but it was fascinating and Michele was personable, informative, helpful, warm, friendly and provided us a day we’ll remember for a very long time. Thank you Michele!

Informative and entertaining guide - Rafael was a fantastic guide! He kept us informed and entertained! It was really helpful to have a guide take us through Pompeii since it has so much to see. We appreciated going to Herculaneum first, as well. It gave us perspective on the size of Pompeii!

Mixed review - The tour itself was good, and our guide Diego was great. But the logistics could definitely be improved: We left Rome with an early and comfortable speed-train (7:40 in the morning) and arrived at Naples' station at 8:55. But the meeting with the guide was not until 9:45, so we started with a 50 minutes wait in the cold. Then we took a quick shuttle to Herculaneum (super interesting) which we visited for about 2 hours, back to the shuttle to Pompeii for lunch (50 minutes) and the visit of Pompeii itself (less than 2.5 hours, which is much too short for such a large site). I felt very rushed in Pompeii. We were told there was not enough time to see what we wanted to see (such as the Amphitheater) because we had to go back to the Naples' train station..... but then we arrived at the station about 1:30 before the train!!! Why could we not spend a bit more time in Pompeii and still reach the station with a ~30 minutes wait before the train to be well on-time? Overall this was still a good experience, but considering the significant cost, I expected less wait time at Naples' train station, and more coordination with the trains' schedules (morning and evening) so we could spend more time in Pompeii.
