The Certosa hosts not just a church filled with exquisite 17th and 18th-century paintings and sculptures, but also the San Martino Museum, showcasing works by renowned artists including José de Ribera, Luca Giordano, Francesco De Mura, Battistello Caracciolo, and Pietro Bernini. From the magnificent Cloister, behold the stunning vista of the Gulf of Naples and its distinctive Baroque accents. The journey continues down the Pedamentina stairs to Naples’ historical centre; a succession of ramps and switchbacks offering spectacular panoramic vistas. We’ll tread the Montesanto stairs, leading us to the Pignasecca district, home to the city’s oldest market.
