• Turin - The Royal Palace of Venaria, the summer residence of the Savoys, modeled on Versailles, is surrounded by extensive Italianate gardens. This 16th-century hunting lodge was built for Carlo Emanuele II of Savoy. The basements now house a historical exhibition that tells the story of the Savoy family, while the upper floors feature rotating exhibitions. The Royal Palace is closed on Mondays.

Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art: The Baroque castle of Rivoli now hosts a captivating museum of contemporary art. The building, which was started in the 17th century and later redesigned but never completed by Juvarra in the 18th century, was finally transformed into a museum in the late 20th century by minimalist Turin architect Andrea Bruno. It showcases rotating international exhibitions and a permanent collection of 20th-century Italian art. The castle of Rivoli is open for visits from Thursday to Sunday.
