Built in the 1730s to a design by Juvarra, it is perhaps his finest work. The exterior of the palace has been restored, while the interior remains as luxurious as ever and includes the Museo d’Arte e Ammobiliamento, a collection of art and furniture from other Savoy palaces. Stupinigi castle is closed on Mondays.

Sacra di San Michele - A formidable fortified abbey perched atop a rocky hill, the Sacra di San Michele. To reach the church, you must climb 150 steps, passing 12th-century sculptures from the Porta dello Zodiaco, a splendid Romanesque doorway adorned with zodiac signs. On the left side of the interior are 16th-century frescoes depicting New Testament themes; on the right are scenes of the church’s founding. Note that some sections of the abbey are open only on weekends, and during particularly busy times, visits may be limited to hour-long tours. Weather permitting, the views from the walls and terraces surrounding the church are breathtaking.
