If you have any interest in food, try this class! - This was a fantastic experience! If you are in Mexico City and are looking for a fun way to spend a morning/afternoon - try Aura's classes! Chef Pame was amazing, informative, and SO friendly! She provided a lot of insight not only into the dishes we were preparing but also their ingredients. The cooking was but a highlight of the class as you also visit the local torillería, market, and local food vendors. Don't eat before you come, you will definitely leave full! 100% recommend :)

Best cooking class I’ve ever attended - I can’t say enough good things about this cooking class. First, our flight was delayed by a day, so we were going to miss our scheduled class. I contacted the company, and they promptly responded with an alternate class I could attend. That day didn’t work, so they offered to open up an unscheduled class for us. We graciously accepted. When we arrived for our cooking class, it turned out to be just me and my partner taking the class, so it was intimate and personalized. A few highlights: - We are vegetarian so we originally wanted to attend a vegan class, but it was sold out. So we opted for the class where we made white mole. My partner is allergic to sesame seeds (a main ingredient in mole), so we were concerned. Graciela assured us this would not be an issue, and it wasn’t. We had a DELICIOUS vegetarian, allergy-free meal. We made white mole served with mushrooms. - When we did the market tour, we went with a street taco cooking group they had scheduled concurrently. Graciela was very thoughtful about allergies and dietary restrictions, and kindly avoided the “protein” section of the market, with us in mind. My partner was also curious about a candy she saw in the market, and asked Graciela for information. Without hesitancy, Graciela asked her assistant to buy some for my partner before we left. My partner left with a sack of the candies - amazing. - The food was SO good. Everything we made was delicious with simple and clear instructions so we can recreate our awesome meal at home. I left very full. - While Graciela was with the taco-making group, my partner and I were instructed by a lovely teacher named Christen (sp?). She was so friendly and patient with us. There were also some lovely assistants working along with us, picking up and watching our stoved foods for us while were making other treats. - Lastly, we were both celebrating birthdays, and we got a special surprise birthday cake at the end. Graciela and her team went the extra miles to make the day exceptional for us. We left full and so happy. What a special day.

a wonderful experience - If we spend a week or so in a single city, we often look to take a cooking class, and so we did recently on our trip to CDMX. We found Graciela and Aura Cocina online and we are very glad that we did. Not only is Graciela forthcoming and engaging, but she provides a well orchestrated class. We began with a trip to a local tortilleria, to a couple of street food vendors (one of whom was an woman who had been doing this for some 60 years), and then on to the Medellin Market. I learned a lot about food, especially chiles in her discussion at the market. After we returned, we produced the entire meal, each of doing enough so that we understood exactly what was necessary to produce it ourselves at a later time (we were given written recipes to facilitate that). At every step of the way, Graciela informed us of the historical and cultural significance of the various products that went into the meal and she created a climate that allowed all of us to enjoy each others' company. By the time we were done, we had a splendid meal with mezcal and wine to complement it.

Like Coco for Tastebuds - First things first: if you’re looking for the best meal in Mexico, look no further. Pujol, Contramar, Rosetta got nothing on Aura Cocina Mexicana. Everything in this 3-course meal + dessert was homemade and you can clearly taste the freshness, complexity and history in every single bite as if your tastebuds are going back in time to meet their Mexican abuelita ancestors, like in Coco. But what I loved most about the meal was how flavorful yet healthy everything was; very little salt or oil was used. And I almost forgot…the best part…it was a cooking class. What that means is you get to learn abuelita's secret recipes, techniques and tools for each dish. Well, the molcajetes were rad but you can’t keep those. We were five (six including the instructor) and each of us came from different parts of the world. After a brief introductory conversation, we got right down to preparing the meal: homemade tortillas, sopes spiced up by two different salsas we created from scratch (red and green), zucchini salad, white mole with chicken which is a dish typically reserved for special occasions (weddings in central Mexico) (HOLY MOLE that was delicious!) and last but not least, a cornbread which was paired with a water-based hot chocolate. Qué riquisima toda la comida! For any and all food enthusiasts, or if you just like to eat and are looking for something interesting to do in CDMX, I definitely co-sign this lovely experience. Graciela, the instructor, has a great story and it was truly inspiring to hear about her culinary history and how she built up her beautiful kitchen space. Bless her heart for she was kind enough to answer all of my questions about Mexican culture, even beyond food. Along with all the recipes and techniques, I will take this memorable experience with me for the rest of my days and on to the other side of Día de Muertos. Book now!

Delicious discovery, very professional - I had the opportunity to participate in a shorter version of Graciela's cooking class, as part of a festival, in which we cooked white mole. I was absolutely amazed by the quality of the mole we cooked. The white mole is a traditional dish in Mexico but it is not so common to find it in restaurants, so it was a great discovery for many. Graciela also takes very well into account the tastes of everybody and adjusts her recipe in function of this (example: reducing the amount of chiles to make it milder so that everybody could eat it). After cooking the mole, we shared lunch together to try it. Serving it with mushrooms instead of the traditional chicken was not only delicious but also very appreciated for the vegetarian I am. There was even some dessert (a delicious cornbread, super fresh and with the perfect level of moisture) and some very tasty drinks. All the food was really amazing! Graciela is very generous and shared her white mole recipe so that we could prepare it at home. Highly recommended experience! With Graciela you will be in the hands of a great cook that transmits very well her passion.
