Come hungry, leave fulfilled. - Jim was so welcoming, it felt like we were meeting an old friend to catch up. He taught us more about the history of Mexico through food. We purchased all the ingredients we would need to make our meals, and went back to his place to prepare them. The instructions were clear and way to follow, and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend for a half day excursion.

Experience not to be missed - The most fun experience we've had in Mexico City. Jim was a very warm, intelligent, and tolerant person. He took us to the market and taught us about the history of food in Mexico and then we went home on him and cooked amazing and delicious food. We exchanged stories and drank wine and it felt that we were just a good friend for dinner. He took into account what we didn't eat and what we liked and directed us with guidance full of energy and excitement.

A Wonderful Cooking Experience with Jim! - My mom and I had an absolutely fantastic time with Jim! He was incredibly kind and welcoming, making the whole experience truly enjoyable. We loved learning about the local market and getting access to fresh, natural ingredients. It's about a 25-minute walk from the market to Jim's place, so keep that in mind for your planning. The food we prepared was delicious, and Jim was a wealth of knowledge, offering helpful tips and even sharing the recipes with us. We can't wait to try them out back home!

Unforgettable class and food - What can I say… Jim is amazing in so many ways. He really took great time and effort and clearly passion to walk through the market and explain the history of Mexican foods. We picked out what we were going to make and he gave a great lesson about all the spices and important food groups that make up Mexican food. Back at his place he had a great setup, with two lovely assistants 🐱🐱 and started making all this great food. Everything was perfect. My appreciation and respect for Mexican food has really got me excited to try cooking it at home. Everything was delicious and we had a great time. Came as a client and left as a friend. Would highly, highly recommend his tour and cooking class. When I go back I’ll definitely take another class with him. So much fun for a foodie!!

Experiencing Food - Jim is extremely knowledgeable and a lovely host. Our group was able to choose an experience and set of dishes that we were most interested in cooking. The experience is much more personable than the usual food tour and felt more like catching up with an old friend over an incredible meal.

5 stars from start to finish - A great day out with Jim , meeting at the Mercado and having the history, origin and the marriage of foods explained. Extremely interesting and a very knowledgeable young man with a passion for history and foods. Fluent Spanish, with English as his native language. Back to his kitchen and hands on, messy and thoroughly enjoyable making Tamal verde - a traditional tamal available on lots of Mexico City street corners with a filling of shredded chicken/ Swiss Chard and cheese and tangy green tomatillo sauce. Second course was, Manchamanteles - With a name that translates as ‘tablecloth stainer’, Manchamanteles is a decadent central Mexican mole that gets its sweetness not from chocolate, but from generous chunks of fruit such as pineapple, plantain and nectarine. Each of these moles is served with chicken and rice he’ll teach you to make fresh corn tortillas for mopping up any leftovers! Drinks along the way makes for a great day. Home style, personal and a small group that just worked well. Couldn’t recommend this cooking class highly enough. Cheaper in price than some, smaller group that others but delivers in spades. Thanks Jim 🙏
