Overview of México City. We explore the city’s origins at the ruins of the main Aztec city, now known as Templo Mayor. This is followed by a walk around the city center, including historical buildings such as the former Centro Monetario (now a hotel) and the Infrastructure Building (now MUNAL). These buildings are veritable palaces, making them truly unique. As the city expanded, it grew westward from the former Aztec/Spanish capital location towards what is now Chapultepec Park, on both sides of the avenue that connected them. As we drive along this boulevard, now Reforma, we will stop at one of its most representative neighborhoods: Roma. Roma still exudes the dreams that inspired its original inhabitants to create such an elaborate landscape of Ionic columns, floral friezes, overlapping arches, and stained glass windows. Casa Lamm, Ajusco Park, Sagrada Familia Church, and the city’s first gelato store offer interaction with modern art and tradition.
