Great walking tour - This is a fun walking tour in the heart of Mexico City. Sharon led us to restaurants and food stands we would have never found on our own. We tried a variety of dishes without worrying whether they used meat, and had more than enough to fill us (we took the final tortas back to our room for later). The pulque and “seafood” were highlights for me. Highly recommended for vegetarians, or anyone curious.

Brilliant - This tour was recommended to me by a family member who also went on the tour, and boy was I glad that we listened. As a vegetarian who eats eggs and dairy, we found this tour excellent. We stopped at placces that we would never have thought to have stopped at or may have not completed believed the vendors. We got to have zuchinni flower sopas, aguas fresca, vegetarian ceviche, to say the least. Its a long all-you-can tour, so come prepared with empty stomachs and comfortable walking shoes as you get a good orientation to parts of CDMX as you go along. Highly recommend this tour and Mena was attentive during the entire trip.

Great tour to experience lots of Mexico City’s best veg eats - This tour was an awesome way to check out lots of the best vegan food CDMX has to offer and to explore the veg community outside of just the Condesa and Roma areas where many of the veg restaurants are. You learn a lot about the city along the way too, as Sharon is a very knowledgeable tour guide. The food was incredible and I would recommend this tour to all!

A must do vegan or not! - Mexico City is known for its food and as a vegan, I was pleasantly surprised to find out I wouldn’t have to miss out on any of it. This tour is no ordinary tour. There are lots of vegan restaurants in MC but the ones you visit on this tour are not ones that you’ll easily find. They are small, locally owned businesses in mostly working class neighborhoods. I love what this tour company stands for and I especially loved seeing party’s of the city that I might’ve missed otherwise.
We started the tour at Hilton Reforma. It’s a great spot to meet because it’s easy to find and you can use the restroom and there’s a bar or nice seating while you wait.
Mena was warm, friendly and very accommodating. She made sure each person in our group was having a good time. She explained exactly what we’d be doing and how we’d get to each location.
First stop was an authentic street taco place in the historical district . The business had been around for over 30 years. Mena explained that a lot of the workers in the city relit on places like this because they live outside the city, have a 2+ hour commute and no time to cook. Getting good food at a good price is necessary. We each had a couple of delicious tacos before we took a stroll to our next stop. My favorite was the squash flower taco. The salsas were ridiculously good.
Second stop was a vegan restaurant, vegguero, that supports animal sanctuaries and is in a nice, working class neighborhood. We tried three different types of vegan tacos and they blew my mind. The pastor was my favorite.
Next stop was a just a couple blocks over and we tried agua frescos. I had the citrus which was a mix of four fruits. It was refreshing and something nice to sip on as we took a longer walk over to a handmade ice cream stand. There were vegan and vegetarian options and all the ice creams were handmade.
We took a short bus ride to another part of town where we had vegan seafood at Paxil. It was hard to believe this food was all vegan but it was. I also couldn’t believe I had any more room for more food after this. They are not joking when they say, “ come hungry”
Next stop was a torta stand called Gatorta. They are big into animal rights and that’s something I can get behind. Food was very good here and I had just enough room for the last stop…
La Catrina churreria in the pink district. This area has a super fun vibe and the churros were just the perfect amount of sweet I was craving.
I highly recommend the #Traveling Herbivore for your vegan/vegetarian tours. You will have a memorable experience and you’ll see things and visit places that are off the beaten path. Plus you can feel great about contributing to hard working, small business owners.

Travelling Herbivore food tour with great, local vegetarian/vegan food - I highly recommend this tour, whether you are vegetarian/vegan or not! Mena and Sharon focus on supporting local woman and minority owned businesses and emphasize showing the group neighborhoods that tourists may not otherwise see. They are knowledgeable guides who are enthusiastic about Mexico City and food! The food was absolutely excellent, with a mix of “mock meat” and food that shines from the natural ingredients used. The Travelling Herbivore is a fantastic company!

Enlightening, delightful and delicious - Sharon was an excellent guide. She was delightful. She was very knowledgeable, and in particular, was quite familiar with the vendors that we went to. She also shared fascinating insights about Mexico City, the communities through which we walked, and the local culture. She took us through parts of the city that we never would’ve visited otherwise. And the food was delicious!
