Total Disaster - The lakes are awesome and we loved them and the views!! BUT we booked a private tour in English weeks before the tour date, then on the day we get a Spanish speaking guide who knows NO English. We contacted the head Office who simply told us they had no English guide available for us on that date despite our booking weeks in advance. we were furious! especially as they only offered us a 10% discount. When we arrived we were asked if we wanted to walk or ride up the mountain. Fortunately we chose to ride. It's a 8 Km hike. The last 250m which we walked was hard enough as it was very steep and the air thin. Trust me we weren't the only ones to find this hard going! We didn't even get a chance to stop for lunch, the driver simply stopped off so we could buy a drink and some biscuits The tour was ruined. we were told we'd be back by 5pm so made a restaurant reservation for 7pm. The guide made it clear we wouldn't be back till at least 7pm so we had to cut the city of Toluca tour to get back in time. The day was a complete disaster!! We told them we would leave them a bad review and they were unperturbed by this. They just didn't care!

AVOID - I have travelled quite a bit in my time, and I have to say this is probably the most unprofessional tour I’ve encountered. The driver arrived late and we were shoved into a Ford Fiesta with barely no leg space and no air conditioning for 3+ hours to get to the Volcano. After that, the next two things - Church and Museum were closed (apparently everything is on a Monday, but the company charged us full price for the tour anyway). The guide didn’t speak any English not gave us any further explanation about the itinerary or the places we were visiting. When we asked questions the most common response was “I don’t know”. After some back and forth with Viator we managed to get a partial refund, however my advice would be to avoid this provider at all cost.
