We embark on our journey to the capital of Mexico State, ‘Toluca’, and plan to explore the Cosmovitral Botanical Garden, a grand Art Nouveau edifice that was once the 16th of September Market in the mid-20th century. The local culinary scene features the signature red or green chorizo, a flavorful blend of ground pork, ginger, cloves, pepper, chilies, and vinegar. Our next stop is ‘Metepec’, one of Mexico State’s enchanting towns, renowned nationwide for its clay artifacts. We’ll tour the family-run workshop responsible for crafting the traditional ‘tree of life’; additionally, you can create your own clay masterpieces for an extra fee. We’ll take a break for lunch (meals are not included) and immerse ourselves in the charm of Metepec. Our journey continues to San Mateo Atenco, a town that has grown into a major retail hub due to its substantial footwear production.
