The area around Ensenada de Muertos is teeming with life due to its deep waters, currents, and proximity to Cerralvo Island, also known as Jacques Cousteau Island. The variety of fish is immense, including Marlin, Dorado, Roosterfish, Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Yellowtail, Jack Crevalle, Snapper, Grouper, and more.
The secret to our success lies in our experienced captains and collaboration with local commercial bait fishermen. We start early by meeting another panga to fill our live well with bait ($700 MXP), and then we’re off to fish.
Most of our fishing is done within sight of land, often drifting close to the sandy beaches, using live sardines or casting to fish that are bursting into view!
Spring brings Pompano and Jack Crevalle, and we begin to see larger Roosterfish, with June-July being the season for the GRANDES. Fall is excellent for Dorado, Marlin, and Wahoo. In winter, we search for Yellowtail and Yellowfin Tuna, with Snapper, Grouper, and many others available year-round.
