An incredible and recommendable experience when you come to Rep.Domnez - We clearly saw the exceptional biodiversity of the DR in the Los Haitises National Park. And delicious food in the Ranche salto yanigua. The information from the SEGUNDO guide was perfect.... I really liked it!!!

A look back at a day outside of time - Very good day, the driver and Ilan the guide were very friendly and pleasant. Very good explanations and they were very attentive.

Definitly worth the effort but be aware of how long all boats are restricted to spending with the whales - We'd seen how unusually rough the water was for few days prior but once we were out there wasn;t too bad, Had to change coaches a few times due to our start location but tour company had arrranged it well. The boat was similar to once we'd been on 2 years prior for same location / trip. It's a lot of luck which side you choose but we picked the right side and fortunately for us teh whales popped up around 70% of time on that side. The whales only surface briefly to breathe before diving for several minutes so its a real skill to be in the right place for when they surface again and our pilot was great at doing this with other boat tours speeding to catch up bein in the workng location (and by time they get to where we were the whales had dived again). Would have been nice ot spend longer with the Whales but the gov limit time for each boat to protect the whales as well as restrict boat no's so we were lucky to see a couple of mother/baby and a male a few times. We'd been to Bacardi island before and its nothing to write home about, food is edible, deckchairs are worn out, suggest you find a spot away from the packed beaches under the shade of a tree and not so bad a time there. On return to coach was a problem so we were treated to free drink while wiaitng for alternate transport (as luck had it we were in alocation seperate to rest of tour group so had a private taxi door to door so got back around same time as we would have done). Tour company were great, called day before to confirm pick up time (it changed a few times a day or so before) and after tour phoned to apologise for transportation issue and offered partial refund - we said no need to but they gave us 20% back which was amazing of them to do so given how much the taxi cost them as well. Only negative (not something the tour company could do anything about) was we had mainly German's on our trip and some of them were damn rude, trying to barge their way to front, trying to duck under my arm just as I was about to board etc, disgraceful behavior, but then they went to left side and saw less whales so they got their just reward I guess. We did get talking to one German couple waiting for transport home and had a great conversation with them so they weren't all bad I'd say.

Recommended excursion! - Very nice excursion with unforgettable landscapes at the Parc des Haitises. Visit to the cave and lunch in a top typical restaurant, with swimming in a waterfall. Ilan our guide is talkative and gave us lots of good anecdotes while being kind and funny.

There should have been a... - There should have been a warning that some people will get completely drenched on the boat. (I must have picked the worst seat.) I have been on several whale watching boats & never one quite like this. It was horrible. Once we finally saw a whale, time to go to the beach.
