A trip to remember - The drive to the Milford Sounds was amazing, take your time and take some stops for photo's. The boat trip was great and not to be missed. We were lucky that the weather was beautiful and we could stay on the top viewing deck the whole time. You have to experience it to feel how impressive these big fjords are with their many, many waterfalls. A beautiful boat ride. The captain was really good and we spotted the yellow eye penguins and a few seals. No dolphins this time around but maybe when you are lucky you will see them.

Fantastic cruise, enjoy scenic fjords views. - We took 10.30 time slots and were the first ones to be in the fjords and able to view the fjords in its full glory! Managed to see dolphins as they swim passed us! Overall, fantastic cruise! Must go if you are visiting NZ.

Amazing Milford doesn’t disappoint - The quality of the boat was top notch and the staff professional. Enough space for everyone. Free yearly and coffee a bonus to keep warm after some time on the deck. The driver had exceptional Knowledge and fact sharing with clear and easy to hear and understand voice. This trip was wonderful. Everyone should do it once in their life.

Well worth it - Although I can’t remember his name, our tour guide was so nice and extremely accommodating, I would definitely recommend this tour to others! Our guide said they were “bad jokes” but they made the trip a whole lot more relaxed and he always called us team which felt very welcoming:)

Once is enough - I initially booked a cruise with a visit to the underwater observatory for my family of 7. Due to weather condition, I was informed a week ahead that the observatory was closed and offered the cruise without plus a NZD25 voucher each instead. On the day of the cruise itself, it was unfortunately rainy and so everyone was wet and cold. We did not get to see any of the animals. Nonetheless, I’m glad I went but see no reasons for a second trip. If I have to summarize with one word it would be blend.

Southern Discoveries Milford Nature Cruise - The boat was clean and the staff was friendly, so I’ll throw in an extra star. Other than that, this was the overcrowded, tour bus jam packed buffet lunch boat from hell. Of course, the website depicts happy cruisers on a small sleek catamaran with plenty of space to enjoy the scenery. This was not the case, and our cruise was an absolute bait and switch. Because of rain and cold, most passengers were inside, which did not help, but even aside from that this particular cruise should be avoided. It was impossible really to see or enjoy anything unless you were fortunate enough to snag a seat next to a window, which the tour bus people promptly claimed having cued up beginning a half hour before departure, which seemed absurd at the time but in retrospect was necessary. I could continue about what an all around miserable experience this was, but you get the picture. I should have followed my instincts and abandoned my tickets upon arrival and booked one of the many smaller boutique boats available without reservations at the port. As they followed along I envisioned them saying “man, am I glad I’m not on that boat”. Unfortunately, I was.
