Muir woods are incredible - The woods are totally incredible. The sizes of the trees and the serenity of the forest is awe inspiring. A large part of the trail is either wooden boardwalk or very flat so it is very easy to walk on. There is a gift shop and washrooms at the beginning of the trail. This is a deep forest experience with huge, towering trees, and the beautiful undergrowth, with a gentle stream running through the center. Several bridges cross the stream. The trail route is very well shown on maps. There is no cell phone coverage, since this is deep within a small valley.

Amazing day - We thoroughly enjoyed our tour! Our driver and guide, Grady, was excellent and really gave us a good sense for the history of the area. The woods were so serene and peaceful, and the extra stop in Sausalito was lovely. We opted to take the ferry back to SF from Sausalito which added to the experience, with great views of the city and bridges, plus a few whale sightings !

Muir woods pros and cons - Not having to find parking at park makes this a enjoyable trip. Once at Muir it is up to you to walk the park. It is not guided. They give you approx 1.5 hrs to walk it to make it to bridge 4 and back takes close to 1.5 hrs. So you must move at a good pace. If you know nothing about SF the driver will talk over loud intercom the way over and back. I didn’t find that helpful but it was amusing at times.

Muir Woods are amazing,... - Muir Woods are amazing, trees are majestic and the woods in general are serene and tranquil. The tour itself was just okay. The driver was clearly working off of a memorized script. We left late waiting for others to show up. Once at the woods we had 90 minutes to tour and the driver informed us that he would leave anyone behind if they were late, which he did (not us). We had 45 minutes in Sausalito, which isn’t enough time to do much of anything, but the city seemed pleasant. Overall, visit the destinations with someone else.
