In the cooler Florida months, bioluminescent Comb Jellies gather in the sheltered waters of the Indian River Lagoon. Alongside the stars, the abundance of protected wildlife, and the Comb Jelly’s bioluminescence, their “ribs” are lined with cilia that they use for propulsion. When you shine a flashlight on them just right, they also create a dynamic, rainbow-like light show!
