- Mina de Santa Brigida - Initially founded as a mission by Jesuit missionaries, this site was intended to safeguard merchants and travelers on the historic inland royal road from Mexico City to Santa Fe in New Mexico. Over time, it evolved into the most significant mining complex in the entire Pozos district, extracting gold, silver, copper, zinc, and notably, the precious mercury governed by the Spanish authorities. Join us for a walk through these remnants of past prosperity, explore the abandoned shafts and subterranean tunnels where indigenous people once extracted the earth’s riches, and discover the three-tower furnace built by the Jesuits, now a symbol of Pozos.
- Mineral de Pozos - Stroll along these cobblestone streets and alleys once inhabited by Mexicans, Americans, French, British, and Spanish citizens. Relax in the tranquil main square, surrounded by old, grand, and colorful buildings that serve as reminders of former prosperity. Visit the small showroom dedicated to Chichimeca culture and explore its pre-Hispanic musical instrument stores. Enjoy lunch at one of the many delightful restaurants, followed by time for shopping and sightseeing. On the way to Hacienda de Cinco Señores, we will pass the once-prestigious “Escuela Modelo,” a model of modern and advanced education in the early 20th century.
- Mina Cinco Senores - This is a fully abandoned mining complex that includes the hacienda or residence of the owners and managers, mineral storage facilities, metal smelting areas, patios for mineral selection, shafts, and mine entrances. Its name derives from the five investors who owned it in the late 1800s. From here, enjoy a stunning view of the mining landscape and neighboring mines. A walk through Cinco Señores’ Mine will captivate you.

“A magical tour”. Pozos was a very important mining center in Mexico. In The late XIX century, it had over 80,000 inhabitants and was declared “Ciudad Porfirio Diaz”. A pretty wealthy city now is considered a ghost town. Come and let me explain to you why Pozos declined. This tour requires at least three people to run, please ask the operator for availability
