The Perfect Start to Our Trip - This trip was fabulous. We learned so much about the history and geography of Peru - not only while at Caral - but on the journey to Caral and back to Lima. Amadeo was a wealth of knowledge and happy to answer every question. It was the perfect way to start our trip.

Great tour with an excellent operator. Highly recommend it. - Booking with HAKU through Trip Advisor was very straightforward. They offer reserve now - pay later option. Our trip was on August 19, 2024 for which I made the reservation early in August, but they deferred the charge to my card till August 17, with free cancellation prior to that. We were in a group of six, four of us and two others. They picked us up at 5:45 am from our hotel in Mira Flores in a passenger van with a driver and a guide- JJ or Joel Jr. was the guide. JJ is very knowledgeable, polite, and professional, and spoke fluent English. He made the long drive very enjoyable, telling us history of Peru, its people, and culture. It took 4.5 hrs to get to Caral and 5 hrs on the return. We spent about 2.5 hrs visiting the ruins at Caral. It turned out to be a long day - we got back to the hotel around 7:00 pm because the traffic in the city was bad. Overall we are glad we went to see the oldest known cradle of civilization. Highly recommend HAKU and kudos to JJ. Thank you HAKU.

The Unearthing of History - Learning about the brilliance and creativity of the first and succeeding settlers of the region is fascinating. As the excavation of the sites continues it will be interesting to learn more about the stories of the people of Peru. This experience is a gift of learning for me.

Dawn of American Civilization - Oldest city in the Americas and the continent’s best kept secret. Fantastico! Credit to Saoul, Arum, and Miguel for getting me there and back (Haku Tours)! Apols if I misspelt names. A great day.

Fabulous day trip to amazing archeological site! - We had a wonderful full day tour of Caral! Our driver was great. Our guide Leonardo was excellent, he spoke perfect English, knew the history in great detail of the area and introduced us to the head archeologist of Caral and translated for us. He made sure we were comfortable and was very professional. Can't speak highly enough of our experience!

Hidden Gem for history fanatics - Caral is a hidden gem. You get to see the oldest society (predates Egypt) in Americas. It's about 4 hour car ride from Lima so doable as a day trip. It's still an active excavation site so they are still discovering new information about the site. Saul was our guide and Alejandro was our driver. They were both delightful and fluent in English. Saul shared so much information about Peru culture as we pass by different districts. We stopped for local breakfast and lunch (after the site tour). they were both authentic. Once we get to the site, it is led by the official culture department guide and Saul acted as our translator and added colors based on his past experiences. It's an amazing experience to be on a site that was built 5000 years ago and learning about the architecture and the culture. The designs of the architecture was so sturdy that it withstood earthquakes and flooding. Lima traffic is quite crazy so be prepared to be a bit delayed coming back to the city. The car they picked us up in is a roomy Honda with automatic transmission which makes the long ride smoother.

Long ride but well worth the drive. - We ended up going from Lima to Caral during Semana Santa week which made the drive to Caral more than 4 hours instead of about 3 hours. However the drive was quite interesting to see the variety of towns, barrios and plots of land along the way as well as the varied terrain. Caral was quite interesting with good informative signs along the paths to the various ancient structures. Fascinating to see the archeology of a civilization that was 5,000 years old.

Educational and Fun Experience - We took the tour as a couple and as we were the only ones who’d booked it, it became something of a private tour We had the privilege of traveling with Leonardo, Pablo, and Tony (driver). The three of them were very knowledgeable about the area and incredibly accommodating individuals. Caral is a very interesting site and it is something of an honor to be able to see such an ancient archaeological site still in progress. While there we were able to meet one of the men who had been overseeing the site for 30 years and learned all about what had been discovered about the civilization so far. There are also booths there for gifts, allowing you to get some authentic souvenirs for very low prices. The food stops there and back were solid choices and on the way back we ended up turning the bus into a concert, playing a bunch of American songs that were popular in Peru. Very interesting archaeological site and great people, 5 stars for sure
