- Plaza San Martin - After picking you up, we will take a brief 20-minute ride to our first stop, “The Plaza San Martín.” This beautiful square, built in 1921 to commemorate the first centenary of Peruvian independence, is surrounded by magnificent structures such as the Gran Hotel Bolívar, The Colón Theater, and unique Art Nouveau Style Buildings….
- Plaza San Martin - After picking you up, we will take a brief 20-minute ride to our first stop, “The Plaza San Martín.” This beautiful square, built in 1921 to commemorate the first centenary of Peruvian independence, is surrounded by magnificent structures such as the Gran Hotel Bolívar, The Colón Theater, and unique Art Nouveau Style Buildings. Many art historians consider it one of the largest and most beautiful squares in Lima. Additionally, for many locals, this plaza is significant because it is dedicated to General Jose de San Martin, a key leader in the struggle for independence in South America.
- Jiron de La Union - We will travel through time by walking along the renowned Jiron de la Union, a famous pedestrianized street that has been considered the most important street in Lima since colonial times, where aristocrats and famous people congregated. Along the way, we will observe magnificent constructions from different centuries as well as impressive colonial churches. Your tour guide will love to share mysteries and entertaining curiosities that each building hides and is waiting to be discovered.
- Plaza de Armas (Plaza Mayor) - We will visit our impressive Main Square, which is surrounded by important buildings such as the Government Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop’s Palace, the City Hall, the Union Club, and more. We will have smooth sightseeing explanations of all these important buildings. Of course, we will not miss the opportunity to learn about the occupancy of this place by native Peruvians before the arrival of the Spaniards.
- Church of La Merced - For many architects and art historians, “CHURCH LA MERCED” has one of the best examples of baroque-style facades in the entire historical center, making it impossible not to admire its beauty and take stunning photos. The original church was a small wooden construction built before the foundation of Lima. However, the church we see today has undergone various restorations but remains beautiful. If it is open, we may have the chance to visit inside the church, and you will love it.
- Museo Convento San Francisco y Catacumbas - We will visit one of the most impressive and visited churches called “Saint Francis of Lima Church.” In this museum, we can find the oldest library in Latin America with more than 25,000 original books, the elevated choir room surrounded by incredible hand-carved chairs, the incomparable main cloister, and the cherry on top is the impressive and mysterious Catacombs located underground the church. This mysterious place was a public cemetery during colonial times for Catholic people. Over the centuries, many stories have been told about this place, and I am sure you will love to hear them.
- RESTAURANTE CORDANO - We will have a quick stop at the oldest bar in Lima, founded by Italian Peruvian families in 1905. Since its opening, it has become the favorite bar for Peruvian presidents, famous bullfighters, singers, and more. Note: Drinks or meals are not included.
- Gran Hotel Bolivar Lima - Once one of the most luxurious hotels in the 20th century, this hotel hosted important presidents, actors, ambassadors, and more. The anecdotes and history you will hear about this hotel will capture your attention. Besides, the architecture and ornaments are just fabulous.
- Casa de la Literatura Peruana - Built where the old train station used to be, you will be able to see the clock of the time that is still in operation.
- Palacio Municipal de Lima - This is one of the most important government buildings by the main plaza because it is where the main Mayor of Lima works. Note: Keep in mind that the internal visit to these places is not included, so all explanations will be from the outside of the buildings.
- Presidential Palace (Palacio de Gobierno) - Serving as the residence and office of the president, we will be able to observe the changing of the guard, which takes place in the courtyard of the palace to the rhythm of Peruvian music.
