Wonderful trip - Great morning. Staff excellent and the skipper was very careful not to get too close but in the end the whales came to us. Another highlight was the hundreds and hundreds of spinner dolphins we saw. Thoroughly recommended.

An absolutely brilliant experience - My husband and I booked a tour with these guys after reading previous reviews based on their ethical approach and were so pleased we did. Communication was great from initial enquiry to final information. The boat was very spacious as passenger numbers are limited so there was plenty of room to move around and get good views of the marine life. Tea and coffee were served shortly after boarding and everyone was offered sea sickness tablets. (I have never felt sea sick even during some very rough crossings in the English Channel but my husband and I had brought our own, having read previous posts, which we took with our breakfast box shortly after leaving our hotel some 2 hours earlier. Fortunately the sea was very calm and we probably did not need to have taken them.) Shortly after departing we were served a very nice breakfast consisting of a fried egg sandwich, a sausage, slice of fresh pineapple and a banana. It wasn't long before we were delighted by the antics of a pod of dwarf spinner dolphins, the first of many. We also saw tuna, flying fish and a fin whale twice! Manoj and his crew were happy to impart their knowledge of the marine life we saw and Manoj kept a respectable distance from the whale, not chasing or hounding it like many of the other boats but because of his experience he was able to predict where the whale was likely to resurface after diving and we were privileged to see it appear just metres from the boat on the second occasion. Amazing given that most of the other boats were still some distance off. On the way back to Mirissa we were served with fresh fruit, a coconut roti with sambal and a soft drink. Water is also freely available on board from a large 20l dispenser. The boat also briefly moors just outside the harbour for anyone wanting to take a quick dip. We had an absolutely brilliant experience and would not hesitate to recommend. Whale sightings are not guaranteed but Manoj will give you the best chance. Just a couple of things to note......passenger details are required before departure including passport numbers but you are not required to take passports with you, also payment is by cash only, they do not have a card machine.

Best whale watching tour in Mirissa - Best tour in Mirissa. Large boat, limited people; they really try to keep away from crowd/other boats and try to find the whale with out least disturbance to the marine life. We watched lots of dolphins and a whale surfaced just infront our boat; loved the experience

Great Sri Lankan whale watching experience - A really great experience for our entire family. We saw 3-4 fin whales, loads of dolphins, and tuna leaping from the waves. The boat was very clean, modern and comfortable, felt very safe and wasn’t too crowded compared to some of the other whale watching boats we saw. The staff were also knowledgeable about the whales and kept a respectful distance to not stress them out. Really nice snacks throughout the journey too. A really great day!

Amazing experience - The experience was wonderful. We saw a few whales and many dolphins. The dolphins were even spinning at times! The guides were friendly and very knowledgable in giving us information about whales. We can see that they are passionate and care about the animals. Half way through they gave out some fruits which was great for us to cool down. At the end we even get to swim in the ocean. High recommended!

A great experience! - We had a great time on this boat for the morning with the team! When we arrived, we were welcomed with hot drinks and also provided breakfast and lunch options, which was a lovely touch! The crew were very respectful of the animals and we were lucky enough to see turtles, dolphins and whales! On our way back we also had time to jump off the boat for a swim to cool down. A great day out with lovely staff!

A tour company that cares about the nature - Great tour and I like how the crews conscious on the environmental protection. No staff was smoking / littering to the sea (which unfortunately quite usual in some Asian tours). Not serving one time use plastic cutlery, etc. We saw a lot of dolphins and a few whales. Staff explained the types of whales we can see in Sri Lanka. They also explained the different between the big boat tour and small boat tour (small boats could harm the sealife as they drove very fast towards to them). We should learn to respect the lifes in the nature. Towards the end of the tour we also have chance to swim a bit before return; which was a great arrangement for the tour.

We saw several humpback whales and dozens of dolphins! The whole experience was memorable, we will definitely be back! Thank you❤️

Well run tour, but no whales over 2 days. - My wife and I took the whale watching tour on April 17. Staff were quick to respond on WhatsApp to book the tour and prior to booking, ensure you are aware there is no guarantee of seeing whales (saying there is 50% chance). The tour is well organized and ran, a comfortable boat, service of breakfast, a fruit bowl, roti, soft drinks, water and a beer. The staff are very welcoming and want to inform you about the animals you see. Unfortunately we did not see any whales but did see an incredible amount of spinner dolphins. We also were able to see a group of Risso’s dolphins, which the staff said was quite rare at this time. Due to not seeing any whales, we were offered to come back the next day, only paying the government tax ($6,000 LKR/person instead of $16,000). We returned on April 18 and unfortunately, did not see any whales again. We did see again though many spinner dolphins and a group of bottlenose dolphins. Although disappointed we spent 2 mornings and did not see any whales, we realize that nature cannot be controlled and respect the fact the Whale Watching Club is ethically run and will not try to manipulate or encourage whales for the purpose of human entertainment. My only suggestion would be too ask the staff on WhatsApp (or other methods of communication) what the total whale sightings have been the previous days before making your decision if it’s not in peak season like us. Even though we didn’t see any whales, would still recommend this your company!
