Nighttime Miyakojima adventure - We had a really nice evening on this tour with Maashi San. You can never guarantee wildlife, but we were able to see a coconut crab, a poisonous frog/toad, a couple of bats, and even a 'sea turtle' (it was a floating plastic jug 😂). The tour ended a little sooner than I expected, possibly because it was cloudy and we couldn't do the stargazing part of it. It was still great value for money though. Maashi San knew enough of each language (there were English and Korean people on the tour) to communicate smoothly, and he was funny. Good company!

Discover tropical jungle creatures by night! - My guide was Shintaro - he was great! We found so many creatures, and he was pretty fearless going into the brush to look for them and get photos for us. I can definitely recommend it, but maybe not for those that fear large spiders :D

I've seen coconut crab and a shit star! - I've been with four and six-year-old girls who love insects. The vibrant glass guide and the coconut crab were very happy to see the star! I was impressed to see the unusual nature!! Thanks for the Glass Guide 👍👍

I learned a lot. - Four family members (sons 7 and 3) participated. Our guide, Yuri, was knowledgeable in many ways and taught us various stories at a good tempo. He answered each and every one of his son's extraordinary questions, and the children immediately missed him. The tour was very satisfying for both children and adults, with Yuri's success showing palm crabs and perfect starry sky. Thank you very much. I look forward to seeing you on tour again next year.

Night Tours are so Fun! - The tour was amazing! Lots of creepy things to look for in the darkness and also gorgeous views of the island at night. Kodai was our tour guide. He spoke perfect English and was very accommodating to us as travelers who don't understand Japanese a whole lot (but I did get to practice with him during the tour!). If you're in the area and you want to get some steps in, this is a perfect activity for you.

High Value Tour - We had a group of three, and got one flashlight. It did the job, but it would have been nice to have at least one more. This is considering it’s a tour in the jungle basically and there are spiders everywhere at head level. Recommend bringing some extra flashlights if you can to avoid running into cobwebs and also seeing/finding more animals.

2023/11/03 - Clouds came out and we couldn't see the stars, but the night breeze and the sound of the waves were pleasant. I was hoping to see at least some coconut crabs, but I didn't see any either... But it was a fulfilling experience being able to observe a variety of creatures! Our guide, Shoji, was a good talker and very friendly, which was great! I'd like to go back again.

Miyakojima at Night - It was my first time on Miyakojima, so I think it was good to be on the tour! The person in charge was also cheerful and good! Too bad we didn't see the palm crabs. I hear you're out a lot in August.

Not as advertised - While we had a fine evening there were some issues. The write up does not say the time is a ballpark time could be changed the day of by email. It does say it could be cancelled due to weather, but they need to edit this in the write up. We made all our plans around the time and heard too late to make changes, so we had to wait an hour at the meeting site with no bathroom. More importantly, you can't see the stars if this moon is too bright, which should be evident based on the phase of the moon. So, we paid for a tour where we didn't even talk about the stars or look up! Similarly they should be upfront that crabs are really only out at night in the summer. We had no real chance of seeing them. I have never had an experience where they advertised what you would see and it was totally not even possible. It seems a little dishonest to say the least. The tour guide was lovely and we had fun learning a little about some trees and seeing some spiders and lots of bats, but that was it.
