It served as a fortress and palace for the Muslim governors of Málaga.
- Plaza de toros de La Malagueta - The bullring was inaugurated in 1876. Designed by the architect Joaquín Rucoba, La Malagueta features a Neo-Mudéjar style, which is a revival of Moorish architecture.
