TRUJILLO OF HISTORY

La Huaca del Sol - We start our journey early, heading south of Trujillo to visit the Huacas Sol y Luna, the main temples of the Moche civilization in northern Peru, which dominated this region and its valleys for around 800 years.

We explore the Huaca de la Luna to admire the finest reliefs and original clay friezes that have retained their vibrant colors.

Discover the Huaca del Sol, remarkable for its size and construction from millions of adobe bricks.

Uncover the treasures unearthed from the Huacas Sol y Luna Archaeological Complex, displayed in the Site Museum.

Traveling north of Trujillo, we delve into the evolution of the Moche culture, which paved the way for the Chimu Culture and its grand city of Chan Chan and surrounding Huacas.

Complejo Arqueologico El Brujo - Museo Cao - En route to the Chicama Valley, known for its high sugar production in northern Peru,

This valley is home to the significant discovery of the Lady of Cao, a female ruler from Moche times who has become a symbol of female leadership in ancient Peru.

Her body was found adorned with gold and silver jewelry, indicating her high rank and social status in the Mochica culture. Most striking is her well-preserved body, complete with tattoos of snakes and spiders.

GOLD AND SILVER FULL DAY

Royal Tombs of Sipan Museum - We visit the Sican Museum, a modern facility showcasing the jewels and remains of prominent figures in Sican society.

Their jewelry is stunning for its weight, design, and craftsmanship, each piece meticulously created and serving as symbols of rank in Sican culture.

Next, we explore the Valley of the Pyramids of Tucume, which consists of 26 adobe pyramids, the largest in South America. We will walk around them and access the Cerro El Purgatorio viewpoint for a panoramic view of the valley.

After lunch, we visit the highly anticipated Royal Tombs of Sipan Museum, ranked among the top 10 museums in the world. This museum houses all the jewels (nose rings, ear ornaments, pectorals, necklaces, and bracelets), ceramics, and the remains of the Lord of Sipan and his ancestors.

HEADING TO CHACHAPOYAS

Chachapoyas - A 10-hour journey to Chachapoyas, crossing from the coast to the northern highlands of Peru.

KUELAP + CABLE CAR

Fortaleza de Kuelap - A day of exploration and discovery at the great Kuelap Fortress of the Chachapoyas, with its 20-meter-high walls.

Cajamarca - We depart early for Cajamarca, the city where the Inca Atahualpa was captured by the Spanish.

CUMBEMAYO

Cumbemayo - Archaeological stone remains from the Cajamarca culture. We will see evidence of stone aqueducts and irrigation channels from the Cajamarca era.
